Greetings KRew

Tonight, I’m excited to announce that Kirribilli Joggers will be joining us for the KRClassic. Kirribilli Joggers is a group led by Jess who usually meet and start running just before us on Thursdays. Post the run I’ve invited to them to join us at the KH for usual post run festivities. They are great group of runners, and I know all the KRew will make them all feel welcome.

Last Sunday we had the annual KR KRistmas Party at Blues Point Reserve, a new venue for us and feedback has been very positive. It was a very relaxing afternoon with the KRew catching up and sharing some drinks, food and good times. I even heard some people didn’t talk about running, who knew that was even a thing .

As always we held the annual KR awards presentation. I was very excited to be able to announce that Trevor Builder was named as the KR Club Member of the Year. Trevor since joining the club a couple of years ago has become an important part of the fabric of the club. Trevor is always positive and upbeat about the club and encouraging of everyone and he is always there supporting everything that we do. Trevor was a very popular and deserving winner and I know you will join me in congratulating him and look forward to his ongoing contribution throughout 2026.

The other winners on the day were:

·      The Spirit of KR – Luzaan De Beer

·      The Spirit of KR – Rick Dufour

·      2025 KR Come Back of the Year – Georgia Parnell

·      KR New Member of the Year – Will Chivers

·      KR Biggest Improvement – Sreekant Nair

·      KR Biggest Improvement – Maria Cuyutupa Garcia

·      KR Around Australia Marathon Award – Ben Hawkins

·      Longest Run of the Year – Paul Doyle

·      KR Mystery Machine Couple of the Year – Paul and Anel

·      KR Collaborator of the Year – Nick Marlow

We also had the 2nd Annual Great KR Bake-Off, a hotly contested event with 10 bakers  bringing their best efforts for the KRew to judge with 3 categories up for grabs it was a tight contest. Congratulations to the winners:

·      Best Looking – Karen and Grace

·      Best tasting  - Vanessa

·      Most Moist – Vanessa

Well done to all the winners, it is always fun to recognise the achievements and contributions that the each and everyone does to make KR the great club that it is.

20th Anniversary Update

The KR Committee is continuing to work on the 2026 KR Calendar, and we are busy finalising running and social events along with highlighting some of the races that we will be promoting and supporting.

If you have any suggestions of events and activities for the club in 2026, please reach out to me, Luzaan or any of the other committee members. We are always looking for ideas from the club to add to what we do.

I’m sure everyone is looking forward to getting the 20th Anniversary KR Shirts, I’m expecting them to be delivered in time for Christmas. Will be a great start to the New Year.

Upcoming Events

This coming Monday we are holding the annual KR10k Reverse Beverage Run always a fun event with the KRew visiting 2 pubs along the route. Come prepared for a fun run with your running buddies drinking a few beverages as we go.

Annual KRClassic Santa Run will be held on 18th December. Come along dressed as your favourite, Santa, Elf or Reindeer. We will have some bells to spread joy along the KRClassic course.

KRistmas Day KRClassic will be at 7:30am. This is a great way to start the days festivities with a great run, before presents, mince tarts, turkey and egg nog!

New Year’s Day KRClassic will be at the usual time and will be the best way kick start your 2026.

Upcoming Races

As hard as it is to believe but we are nearly at the end of the 2025 and soon the 2026 races will be starting. On Saturday 31st January will be the first race that will have plenty of the KRew toeing the start line is the Sun Run from Dee Why to Manly. A challenging and fun 10k or 7km race and the perfect way to start the year off. At the moment they have early bird pricing and Ludmila has created the Kirribilli Runners team. So come along and join the fun.

Canberra Times Running Festival 11 and 12 April 2026. This is always a popular event for the KRew, and I know there will be a lot of us heading off to our Nation’s Capital for the weekend. If you are thinking of doing it, then sign up today.

Shortly we will publish a list of the races that we will be promoting in 2026 and I hope that you can join us either racing or supporting. As a hint check out the new Paramatta Half held in June which should be a good race to head out west for.

For a friendly, low pressure local race series that is very reasonably priced, has various distances on offer and held is some of the most scenic parts of Sydney, check our Sri Chinmoy. https://au.srichinmoyraces.org/sydneyraces

Of course, there are many races throughout the year that the KR will do, such as those out at Sydney Olympic Park and around the foreshore. We will highlight as many we think of, but if you have one to promote you think the KRew will love, let us know!

If you want to find some races for yourself, I highly recommend using The Running Calendar website which lists just about every race in Australia. If you find a race that has a KR Team and needs a code let me know. Or if you are the first KR to sign up for a race, please create a KR team and let me know.

If you are bringing bags tonight, Trevor is back and will have his car there to hold them whilst you run. (But please pick them up as soon as we have finished the run!) Thank you, Trevor much appreciated!

If you’d like to volunteer your car, please let me know!

That’s a wrap for this week; remember to take care of yourself, and if you can, others.

Keep running @everyone and happy trails,

Steve
