I do love my early morning Autumn runs and this morning was a perfect example of why, it was cool, humidity was low, no wind and dawns first light just beginning to seep across the slumbering city. I’m always surprised when there are so few people out enjoying it with me, but then the quiet and the solitude is part of the charm.
I hear that there is a large contingent of KR looking to descend on Greenway parkrun this weekend for what I understand is a course even flatter than Rhodes which we know is flat fast course. Check out the invite elsewhere on the KR FB page for details. And I look forward to reading and hearing about how everyone went.
On 2nd May is the ANSW Sydney 10 out at Sydney Olympic Park, always a great morning, so check that out on their web page. https://runnsw.com.au/event/2021-sydney10/
But the big one that I know a lot of folks are now in training for, is the Gold Coast Marathon in July. If you are thinking about signing up, now is a great time to do so. Signing up will really help focus your training as you get ready to achieve whatever goal you set yourself for the event. I know I’m looking forward to it and I think it will be a great weekend with a lot of KR going up to run in all of the events on offer. Naturally we will organise some gatherings of the KRew both pre and post the event. (Sunday party time!!!)
Next week I promise to have the profiles back, I’ve got a little behind with them, but I’m back on track and looking forward to learning more about our fellow KRs.
Talking of the joy of running, tonight’s KRClassic, Joy and I will be there from about 6:15pm or so to welcome you and while some folks are still running out in smaller groups, as restrictions have really eased we are heading back to the whole group start at 6:40pm. But, no matter whether you want to start a bit earlier, or at the more traditional time of 6:40pm, Joy will be there with her car to store your bags should you need it. Can I ask though, that you please have your bags stored by 6:40pm so that we can all head out for a run across the bridge?
And can I also ask that you please register your attendance at this link:
Or I will have a QR code tonight for you to register as you arrive.
Also as the COVID rules are relaxing a few of the KRew are starting to head back to the Kirribilli Hotel for a beer or two before pizza which is great. So whatever you choose I do hope that you can stay socialise with the KR post the run!
Why doing exercise before your vaccination is a good idea.
The colder months of the year are upon us, racing season is well underway, its flu vaccination time and overseas travel is beginning to open up again.
It got me thinking, how to best juggle getting my vaccinations up to date while staying healthy, and keeping up with my training and racing.
Well if you have also asked yourself the same type of question then this article sourced by our illustrious run director, Stephen Kibble, may help you answer those questions.
Thanks Chris I think it is yet another great thing about running, that by keeping up our sport we also help ourselves with making vaccinations more effective. Double win!!
Well that’s a wrap for another week.
Remember to take care of yourself and others.
