Greetings KRew

After a few weeks break Nick and our friends from Running Warehouse are back with shoe testing this week from Salomon, and as a special event they are bringing hydration vests to try. Hydration vests are an excellent way to ensure you stay hydrated and fuelled during your long runs. Personally I have been wearing one for my long runs since about 2004. So highly recommended! (They have come along way since those days and you hardly know you have one on any more.)

Talking of hydration, I was reading an article in the paper yesterday and it was saying how we are about to have our first heatwave of summer coming through. Along with the heatwave will come the inevitable bush fires and the degradation of the air quality in the places where we love to run. So as we come into summer, make sure you are planning your runs, checking the humidity and temperature, ensure you carry some water and be careful is the air quality is at a high warning level.

Stay safe KRew and we can all have an excellent summer of running and racing.

Upcoming Events

KR Christmas Party: This year the annual KR Christmas Party will be held on 15th December at Clark Park. We will start to gather in the usual place in the top park from about midday and please bring some food share and whatever you’d like to drink. We will be doing our prize giving and naming the KR Club Person of the Year for 2024. Save the date in your diary now.

Many local and Australian 2025 races are now open for registration and if you think you will run any of them I encourage you to sign up straight away as they will sell out.

Sun Run opened this week with early bird entry, always a great way to kick off the year of racing with a quick 10k dash from Dee Why to Manly. https://www.sunrun.com.au/

Canberra Marathon 2025 registration is now open. I’m expecting a big contingent of the KRew will be out there doing it. Don’t forget to use the KR Discount to get 10% off. SMMEMBERKR

The Hoka Half in May is now open and you better be quick as I hear the 10k race has already sold out. https://runawaysydneyhalf.com.au/

Of course, there are many many races throughout the year that the KR will do, such as those out at Sydney Olympic Park and around the foreshore. We will highlight as many was think of, but if you have one to promote you think the KRew will love, let us know!

If you want to find some for yourself, I highly recommend using The Running Calendar website which lists just about every race in Australia. https://www.runningcalendar.com.au/

Tuesday Speed Sessions, every week as most of you know we hold a speed session on Tuesday nights at Gore Hill Oval starting at 6:30pm. It is great to see about 14 or 15 people coming each week to work on their speed and push themselves on the various sessions that we do. All are welcome and for more details please message me directly.

If you are bringing bags tonight, Evelyn Lengua has volunteered to be there with her car to hold them whilst you run. (But please pick them up as soon as we have finished the run!) Thank you, Evelyn, very much appreciated!!

That’s a wrap for this week; remember to take care of yourself and others.

Keep running @everyone and happy trails,

Steve
