Greetings KRew

Congratulations to the organisers, and all the runners, volunteers and supporters all of whom have helped make the TCS Sydney Marathon the 7th World Marathon Major. It is also the first Major to be hled in the Southern Hemisphere which is great.

Tonight to celebrate, we are doing a special Sydney Marathon T-Shirt Thursday. If you have one please wear your Sydney Marathon Shirt, whether that be the 2024 shirt, 2023 or even older, come along and help celebrate this great acheivement for Sydney. (Of course we always welcome and love to see the Red.)

Talking of racing as I’ve been saying for a while now many local and Australian 2025 races are now open for registration and if you think you will run any of them I encourage you to sign up straight away as they will sell out.

This week Sun Run opened this week with early bird entry, always a great way to kick off the year of racing with a quick 10k dash from Dee Why to Manly. https://www.sunrun.com.au/

The Hoka Half in May is now open and you better be quick as I hear the 10k race has already sold out. https://runawaysydneyhalf.com.au/

Last weekend showed there are still a few races on with the KRew out Repping the Red and making good showings. Brian managed to secure a top of the podium finish in a 5k race in Thailand, including getting lost and still winning! Margriet and I were down in Royal National Park doing the Sri Chimnoy marathon where Margriet secured 2nd in her age group. Melyn changed running shoes for a set of wheels and backed up Bondi to Manly with the shorter and easier event of the MS Ride to the Gong. (Pretty sure I saw some other KR out there riding as well.)

Well done everyone, keep those legs turning over and keep running and racing.

Upcoming Events

KR Christmas Party: This year the annual KR Christmas Party will be held on 15th December at Clark Park. We will start to gather in the usual place in the top park from about midday and please bring some food share and whatever you’d like to drink. We will be doing our prize giving and naming the KR Club Person of the Year for 2024. Save the date in your diary now.

Many of the 2025 races have now opened early-bird registration, so if you are planning on participating in any of the major races next year I suggest getting in early to avoid disappointment.

Of course, there are many many races throughout the year that the KR will do, such as those out at Sydney Olympic Park and around the foreshore. We will highlight as many was think of, but if you have one to promote you think the KRew will love, let us know!

If you want to find some for yourself, I highly recommend using The Running Calendar website which lists just about every race in Australia. https://www.runningcalendar.com.au/

Tuesday Speed Sessions, every week as most of you know we hold a speed session on Tuesday nights at Gore Hill Oval starting at 6:30pm. It is great to see about 14 or 15 people coming each week to work on their speed and push themselves on the various sessions that we do. All are welcome and for more details please message me directly.

If you are bringing bags tonight, Evelyn has volunteered to be there with her car to hold them whilst you run. (But please pick them up as soon as we have finished the run!) Thank you, Evelyn, very much appreciated!!

That’s a wrap for this week; remember to take care of yourself and others.

Keep running @everyone and happy trails,

Steve
