Greetings KRew

I start this week with some exciting news, due to the number of KRew who have joined the KR team for Real Insurance Harbour 10k the organisers have sent us a free entry for the event worth up to $85. The committee think the fairest way to give it away is to have a raffle raising funds for a charity that means a lot to the KRew and supports a worthwhile children’s charity; “Stuart House

Tickets are $10 each or 7 for $50 and you enter by leaving a donation on the GoFundMe page with your name and we will hold the draw at KR Classic on Thursday 7th May.

Of course, if you want to donate and not be in the raffle, let us know by making a note on the page where you make the donation.

Stuart House’s mission is to transform the lives of disadvantaged children from public schools throughout NSW, by bringing them to their residence in Curl Curl where they offer services, for the physical and mental health of the children.

One of the activities they do with them is bus them to Bridge on Thursday night and the kids then get to walk across the bridge and back. We have all seen them, these are kids walking in their PJs, who, as we all run by, will yell out encouragement, give us ‘high5s’ and are always happy and enthusiastic. I have never seen a KR who does not smile as they run past these delightful children and their carers.

Last Sunday saw over 20 of the KRew running the Canberra Marathon and Half Marathon. It was a great weekend with many of the KRew out there cheering each other on, helped with a pre-run gathering for carb loading on Saturday night and then a celebration at Bentspoke Brewing post-race on Sunday. Well done to everyone who ran and supported!

20th Anniversary Update

The fun and celebrations don’t stop, we still have more activities lined up so check out the 2026 KR Calendar. This weekend, Luzaan and I will spend a bit of time on the upcoming events and start to promote the many exciting things that we have coming up.

The calendar of course, has all the regular KR runs as well as the major races that we will be following and promoting. We will add to the races as the year goes on. If you have a favourite race, then let me know and we can add it.

Upcoming Events

Monthly Long Run Sunday. This Sunday 19 April is the next long run with a 10k, 20k and 30k on offer. This month we are heading out to MiddleHead starting at 7:15am at the usual meeting place in Kirribilli. So come along for a run on what will be a great day!

Tuesday Speed Sessions. We will be meeting at 6:30pm at the usual spot at Gore Hill Oval. It is open to all and if you want to know more details, please reach out to me.

Upcoming Races

As a hint check out the new Paramatta Half held in June which should be a good race to head out west for. They’ve just released the new course.

Another great local 10k race is the Real Insurance harbour 10k a flat fast course along the foreshore. So far we have 21 people in the KR team and would love to have you join us. (Enter the KR raffle and possibly win a free entry)

For a friendly, low pressure local race series that is very reasonably priced, has various distances on offer and held is some of the most scenic parts of Sydney, check our Sri Chinmoy. https://au.srichinmoyraces.org/sydneyraces

Of course, there are many races throughout the year that the KR will do, such as those out at Sydney Olympic Park and around the foreshore. We will highlight as many we think of, but if you have one to promote you think the KRew will love, let us know!

If you want to find some races for yourself, I highly recommend using The Running Calendar website which lists just about every race in Australia. If you find a race that has a KR Team and needs a code let me know. Or if you are the first KR to sign up for a race, please create a KR team and let me know.

If you are bringing bags tonight Trevor has promised to bring his car to hold them for you. As always please collect them straight after the photo. Thank you, Trevor, much appreciated.

Regarding the bag drop, to help keep KR running smoothly I have asked Trevor to take on being the coordinator for Monday and Thursday nights to ensure there is a car to enable the bag drop. He has a group chat and would love to add you to it if you are able to help from time to time.

That’s a wrap for this week; remember to take care of yourself, and if you can, others.

Keep running @everyone and happy 20th Anniversary Kirribilli Runners!
