Greetings KRew

After a few weeks break shoe testing has returned to KR. Tonight Nick from Running Warehouse is bringing along Brooks shoes and they will have 3 different shoes to try. This is particularly exciting, as two of the shoes have not been released yet, so the KRew will be the first to be able to have a sneak peek and a good solid run in them. The 3 on offer are:

·       Glycerin Max - Launched on Tuesday 1st October.

·       Adrenaline 24 - Launching in November 2024.

·       Glycerin 22 - Launching in January 2025.

So come along about 6.15PM to get your shoe size.

This is a great opportunity to be the first to try the latest and soon to be released shoes by Brooks.

Well done to the KRew who Repped the Red so well in Berlin last Sunday, each did an amazing race on the fast flat course. Also last Saturday saw Nils achieve 300 parkruns and was great that so many of the KRew went along to help him celebrate this huge achievement.

Talking of parkrun, this Saturday sees the parkrun organisation is celebrating its’ 20th Anniversary. Parkrun started in Bushby Park in London with 5 volunteers and 13 runners and has been growing ever since. Locally the KR home parkrun of North Sydney is celebrating with a special event, so come along and join in. I expect it will be a huge morning with lots of folks coming along to be part of the excitement. Will be great to see many folks out running and I’m sure repping the Red at this local fun run.

Also this weekend we wish well to Dan and Ben who are going across to rep the Red in the Perth Marathon. Go well guys!

The KR Christmas Party will be held on 15th December. We are planning on holding it in Clark Park in Lavender Bay again this year from about 12pm.  So save the date and get ready for a great way to celebrate the end of the running year with all your KR buddies.

Shop is Open! KR shop is now open for all your KR gear. Shop closes this weekend 7th October. We have a wide range of men’s and women’s t-shirts, crop tops and singlets, plus caps and visors, and don’t forget to order you KR jacket and Hoodie as well. It is always great to see so many of us running and racing Repping the Red in the great gear fro Sub4. https://www.sub4.com.au/category/kirribilli-runners/

Upcoming Events

Don’t despair as there is still some great races left his year that the KRew will be at Repping the Red. The biggest of these is the sold-out Melbourne Marathon on 13th October. Post the marathon Brian and Tully are organising a gathering spot so everyone going down can join together to celebrate. Please speak to those guys for details.

At the end of October is the Bondi2Manly Ultra, for those wanting a huge and incredibly scenic challenge can do the full 80k event. For those wanting the experience and run with some friends there is the relay event.

Sri Chimnoy still have a couple of events left, including the marathon and half-marathon in Royal National Park, always a good event and I know that we have a few KRew going down for it. There is a still a few events in NSW at places like Orange for Lonely Mountain.

Lastly, a lot of races have opened registration for 2025, and based on how quickly they sold out last year, if you are thinking of running them, sign up now!

Of course, there are many many races throughout the year that the KR will do, such as those out at Sydney Olympic Park and around the foreshore. We will highlight as many was think of, but if you have one to promote you think the KRew will love, let us know!

If you want to find some for yourself I recommend using The Running Calendar website which lists just about every race in Australia.

Tuesday Speed Session is on Tuesday at 6:30pm at Gore Hill Oval every week, all welcome!

If you are bringing bags tonight, Georgina will be there with her car to hold them whilst you run. (But please pick them up as soon as we have finished the run!) Thank you Georgia!

Don’t forget, post the run, we always head to the KH for a post run drink or two, then to the long time KR pizza place for awesome pizza at a discounted price from Hendra and his crew.

That’s a wrap for this week; remember to take care of yourself and others.

Keep running @everyone and happy trails,
