Greetings KRew

Tonight, our very popular shoe testing is back for 2025. Nick and our friends at Running Warehouse are bringing along Hoka and their brand new Bondi9. As you would have read in the newsletter two weeks ago, Hoka had a huge launch at Bondi Beach where some lucky runners got to be the first in Australia to try them out.

Well tonight it is the turn of Kirribilli Runners to give these awesome new shoes a test run on our iconic KRClassic course. As you all know our course is ideal for testing, with the hills for testing up and down, good turning to test lateral movement and a time for speed or moderate pacing. Fitting will start about 6:15 to give everyone a chance to try them on and get ready to run.

Don’t forget to see Nick in store on Sunday at Running Warehouse in Chatswood for 25% off of the Hoka range.

KR Shop is Open

Great news we have opened the KR shop. All the best gear is there for both men and women plus don’t forget the awesome hoodies and jackets. Get in quick and order your gear now to get delivery before the May races.

Last weekend we had a huge turnout for Sun Run as I posted on FB on the day with a few photos. It was great to see so many of the KRew out there enjoying the morning along with about 10,000 other runners. The the post-race brunch at Shelly Beach was well attended with some 30 to 40 of the KRew dropping in to chat over the course of the morning.

Upcoming Events

The 3rd Annual RunDrinkRepeat Games incorporating the KR Beer Mile. This year we have invited our friends from NRG to join us for the challenge to see which club can down the beers, whilst running a mile. Defending champion Brian and is offsider Mark are planning a great afternoon and will be hosting.

So, if you fancy your chances come along for the fun at Andersen Park in Neutral Bay on 22 February at 2pm.

If you don’t want to run the beer mile, then come along and cheer the brave KRew on as they take on this gruelling event.

Upcoming Races

Many local and Australian 2025 races are now open for registration and if you think you will run any of them, I encourage you to sign up straight away as they will sell out. (Both Gold Coast marathon and half marathon, along with Melbourne marathon have already sold out.)

Canberra Marathon 2025 registration is now open. I’m expecting a big contingent of the KRew will be heading to Canberra for this beautiful Autumn Day run through our Nation’s Capital. https://solemotive.com/pages/canberra-times-marathon-festival

The Hoka Half in May has opened a few more half marathon entries, so if you missed out try again now or consider becoming one of our official volunteers or coming down and support the KRew running this iconic event. https://runawaysydneyhalf.com.au/

The Bay to Bay running festival 2025 on Sunday 15th June has just opened registrations. This is a hugely popular event that runs from Woy Woy to Gosford and last year was a sellout. This year they have added a marathon to the event that will start and finish in Gosford and will be a beautiful mostly flat run. I know a lot of the KRew will want to do this race, so sign up now and join the Kirribilli Runners team for a great morning of running on the central coast. https://www.baytobay.org.au/

City to Surf, this year will be 10th August, just a few weeks before the Sydney Marathon and will be a great last fast race before the main event. Stay tuned and we will let you know when registrations open for this as it will sell out quickly. https://city2surf.com.au

TCS Sydney Marathon, has been moved to 31st August and the ballot entries have now closed and entries confirmed. If you missed out, consider becoming an official volunteer or coming down and supporting the KRew.

Bare Creek 20k Trail Race will be held on 2nd November. In KR I know we have a lot of trail runners, those who think that spending the day out on the trails running mountains and fording streams is the only way to be free. But as a club we haven’t really supported any of the many trail races that are on around Sydney. So this year I hope we can get a big contingent of the KRew up to Acron Oval to take on this beautiful course in Garigal National Park. https://barecreektrailrun.com.au

Of course, there are many races throughout the year that the KR will do, such as those out at Sydney Olympic Park and around the foreshore. We will highlight as many we think of, but if you have one to promote you think the KRew will love, let us know!

If you want to find some for yourself, I highly recommend using The Running Calendar website which lists just about every race in Australia. https://www.runningcalendar.com.au/

Tuesday Speed Sessions these are led by either Scott, or myself and are held every Tuesday at the place Gore Hill Oval at 6:30pm. See you there!

If you are bringing bags tonight, Evelyn we will be there with her car to hold them whilst you run. (But please pick them up as soon as we have finished the run!) Thank you, Evelyn, very much appreciated!!

That’s a wrap for this week; remember to take care of yourself and others.

Keep running @everyone and happy trails,

Steve
