Greetings KRew

KR Shop is now open! We will open the shop this week so that you can order your awesome KR gear in time for the City2Surf and Sydney Marathon in August. Also, time to order your jacket and hoodie in time for the coming Winter. Don’t wait order NOW! https://kirribillirunners.org/shop/

Last weekend the KRew joined about 40,000 Sydney Siders for the 31st running of the Sydney Half Marathon now called Hoka Half.  Well done, to all those who participated across the two events. It was great to see so many of the KRew out on the course cheering each other along. I especially want to call out to Florence and the Official Volunteers from KR, Alex Snachez, Benjamin Grainger, Caiti Bertinshaw and Harry Stoker. Well done all, that would have been a long day, we all appreciate what you did for all the runners.

Upcoming Events

This Saturday the 10th May will be the KR Metro Pub KRawl. We will gather in Sydenham at Batch Brewing, 44 Sydenham Rd, Marrickville, at 1pm under the direction of Social Director Greg. Come along for the whole journey or part of the journey and enjoy a drink or three with all your best KR buddies. We will keep FB and other socials updated as to where we are so you can come a join when you can.

This weekend will be another of the TCS Sydney Marathon Run Club training runs. If you want to have a good training run for he upcoming marathon this is a great way to doing it. Sign up at the link below: https://raceroster.com/events/2025/99993/tcs-sydney-marathon-run-club-2025

Next KR long run will be Sunday 18th May and we will be heading out to Manly on the 20k and 30k options. If you would like to lead one of the groups for any of the distances, please see Tully I know he is keen to get you involved.

Upcoming Races

Many local and Australian 2025 races are now open for registration and if you think you will run any of them, I encourage you to sign up straight away as they will sell out. (Both Gold Coast marathon and half marathon, along with Melbourne marathon have already sold out.) UPDATE: A ballot has just opened for a few Gold Coast Marathon spots. Check it out if you fancy a trip to the Gold Coast to run the flattest marathon in Australia.

The Bay to Bay Running Festival 2025 on Sunday 15th June has just opened registrations. This is a hugely popular event that runs from Woy Woy to Gosford and last year was a sellout. I know a lot of the KRew will want to do this race, so sign up now and join the Kirribilli Runners team for a great morning of running on the central coast. https://www.baytobay.org.au/

Real Insurance 10k and 5k on Sunday 27th July has just opened for registration. This is flat fast event along the harbour foreshore in the city. A great event that usually attracts a lot of the KRew to lace up and get out for a quick 5 or 10k. Make sure you mention that you are a Kirribilli Runner at registration. https://harbour10.com.au/harbour10/

City2Surf 2025 is now open and really selling fast. Latest is that C2S is now 88% sold out! Get in fast and join 60 or more of the KRew on the annual dash from the city to Bondi Beach. https://city2surf.com.au/

City2Surf 2025 team registration has eventually opened, and KR Team Captain Tully has all the details. If you register now join the team with the password: KR2025 For those of us already registered is a little more complex and Tully will get back to us all with the details. Current UPDATE: Tully is still working out how to get those of us already registered onto the KR Team stay tuned for updates.

Sydney Marathon, has been moved to 31st August and the ballot entries have now closed and entries confirmed. If you missed out, consider becoming an official volunteer or coming down and supporting the KRew.

Bare Creek 20k Trail Race will be held on 2nd November. In KR I know we have a lot of trail runners, those who think that spending the day out on the trails running mountains and fording streams is the only way to be free. This year I hope we can get a big contingent of the KRew up to Acron Oval to take on this beautiful course in Garrigal National Park. https://barecreektrailrun.com.au

For a friendly, low pressure local race series that is very reasonably priced, has various distances on offer and held is some of the most scenic parts of Sydney, check our Sri Chinmoy. https://au.srichinmoyraces.org/sydneyraces

Of course, there are many races throughout the year that the KR will do, such as those out at Sydney Olympic Park and around the foreshore. We will highlight as many we think of, but if you have one to promote you think the KRew will love, let us know!

If you want to find some races for yourself, I highly recommend using The Running Calendar website which lists just about every race in Australia. If you find a race that has a KR Team and needs a code let me know. Or if you are the first KR to sign up for a race, please create a KR team and let me know.

Tuesday Speed Sessions these are held every Tuesday at the place Gore Hill Oval at 6:30pm. All Welcome! See you there!

If you are bringing bags tonight, Evelyn will be there with her car to hold them whilst you run. (But please pick them up as soon as we have finished the run!) Thank you, Greg, very much appreciated!!

That’s a wrap for this week; remember to take care of yourself and others.

Keep running @everyone and happy trails,

Steve
