Greetings KRew

With Vivid 2025 having turned off its’ last light, dismantled the many installations and the sails of the Opera House gone dark, we are back to the KRClassic course. Yes the most iconic running club course in Australia is back. Time to lace up your shoes and head to Kirribilli for the start of our regular run across the bridge and round the Opera House and return.

Last weekend saw a lot of the KRew out racing or taking on the monthly KR long run, great to see so many of us repping the Red. It is great to Rep no matter what you are doing from the local parkrun, the long run or your next race. It was great to see some of the KRew visiting Ireland for the wedding of Irish John and finding time to Rep the Red on some local runs.

Upcoming Events

This Sunday is the next TCS Sydney marathon training run club run. Meeting at Hickson Park in the shadow of the Casino for a 23k run meeting at 7:45 or so for an 8am start. Lots of pacing groups to select from, see you there! (Remember to register for the chance to win some cool stuff.)

Next KR long run will be Sunday 20th July with 10k, 20k and 30k options. Tully will let us know the course closer to the date and as always, if you’d like to lead one of the groups in the coming months, please see Tully as I know he is keen to get YOU involved.

Upcoming Races

Many local and Australian 2025 races are now open for registration and if you think you will run any of them, I encourage you to sign up straight away as they will sell out. (Both Gold Coast marathon and half marathon, along with Melbourne marathon have already sold out.)

Real Insurance 10k and 5k on Sunday 27th July has just opened for registration. This is flat fast event along the harbour foreshore in the city. A great event that usually attracts a lot of the KRew to lace up and get out for a quick 5 or 10k. Make sure you mention that you are a Kirribilli Runner at registration. https://harbour10.com.au/harbour10/

City2Surf 2025 is now open and really selling fast. Latest is that C2S is now 95% sold out! Get in fast and join 60 or more of the KRew on the annual dash from the city to Bondi Beach. UPDATE: Tully informs me that they have now resolved the team issue for C2S and you can now join the KR Team. Please send your name to Tully but is has to be the exact name you used to register for C2S. Once he has them he will send the list to organisers, and we will be an awesome team!!

Sydney Marathon has been moved to 31st August and the ballot entries have now closed and entries confirmed. If you missed out, consider becoming an official volunteer or coming down and supporting the KRew.

Bare Creek 20k Trail Race will be held on 2nd November. In KR I know we have a lot of trail runners, those who think that spending the day out on the trails running mountains and fording streams is the only way to be free. This year I hope we can get a big contingent of the KRew up to Acron Oval to take on this beautiful course in Garrigal National Park. https://barecreektrailrun.com.au

For a friendly, low pressure local race series that is very reasonably priced, has various distances on offer and held is some of the most scenic parts of Sydney, check our Sri Chinmoyhttps://au.srichinmoyraces.org/sydneyraces

Of course, there are many races throughout the year that the KR will do, such as those out at Sydney Olympic Park and around the foreshore. We will highlight as many we think of, but if you have one to promote you think the KRew will love, let us know!

If you want to find some races for yourself, I highly recommend using The Running Calendar website which lists just about every race in Australia. If you find a race that has a KR Team and needs a code let me know. Or if you are the first KR to sign up for a race, please create a KR team and let me know.

Tuesday Speed Sessions these are held every Tuesday at the place Gore Hill Oval at 6:30pm. All Welcome! See you there!

If you are bringing bags tonight, Trevor will be there with his car to hold them whilst you run. (But please pick them up as soon as we have finished the run!) Thank you, Trevor much appreciated!

That’s a wrap for this week; remember to take care of yourself, and if you can, others.

Keep running @everyone and happy trails,

Steve
