Greetings KRew

This Sunday is the 33rd running of the Sydney Hoka Half Marathon and the KRew will be proudly Repping the Red and toeing the start eager to race the most scenic 21.1km around. If you are not racing this Sunday then I encourage you to either become an official volunteer or come and stand along the course and cheer the KRew on.

After the race head to Hydeaway Café on corner of Elizabeth and Liverpool St in Hyde Park for a post run brunch with the KRew!

KR Shop is opening this week! We will open the shop this week so that you can order your awesome KR gear in time for the City2Surf and Sydney Marathon in August. Also, time to order your jacket and hoodie in time for the coming Winter. Don’t wait order NOW!

As I mentioned last week City2Surf 2025 team registration has eventually opened, and KR Team Captain Tully has all the details. If you register now join the team with the password: KR2025 For those of us already registered is a little more complex and Tully will get back to us all with the details. Current UPDATE: Tully is still working out how to get those of us already registered onto the KR Team stay tuned for updates.

Last weekend it was time for the London Marathon and we had Nils Repping the Red and having a fun time taking in the sights and sounds of that 42.2k iconic course. Well done Nils!

Upcoming Events

Next weekend the 10th May will be the KR Metro Pub KRawl. Social Director Greg has organised the next KR social event and it is only two weeks away. This time we will be taking advantage of the new(ish) Metro to explore some of the pubs near its stations along the route to the south. Come along for the whole journey or part of the journey and enjoy a drink or three with all your best KR buddies,

Next KR long run will be Sunday 18th May. If you would like to lead one of the groups for any of the distances, please see Tully I know he is keen to get you involved.

Upcoming Races

Many local and Australian 2025 races are now open for registration and if you think you will run any of them, I encourage you to sign up straight away as they will sell out. (Both Gold Coast marathon and half marathon, along with Melbourne marathon have already sold out.)

The Hoka Half in May has sold out, so if you missed out try again now or consider becoming one of our official volunteers or coming down and support the KRew running this iconic event. https://runawaysydneyhalf.com.au/

The Bay to Bay Running Festival 2025 on Sunday 15th June has just opened registrations. This is a hugely popular event that runs from Woy Woy to Gosford and last year was a sellout. I know a lot of the KRew will want to do this race, so sign up now and join the Kirribilli Runners team for a great morning of running on the central coast. https://www.baytobay.org.au/

City2Surf 2025 is now open and really selling fast. According to their post on FB on 4th April, they still had some early bird entries left but I would get in quick as they are selling fast. Preferred, Red, and Pink groups are sold out and Green is nearly gone, get in fast and join 60 or more of the KRew on the annual dash from the city to Bondi Beach. https://city2surf.com.au/

Sydney Marathon, has been moved to 31st August and the ballot entries have now closed and entries confirmed. If you missed out, consider becoming an official volunteer or coming down and supporting the KRew.

Bare Creek 20k Trail Race will be held on 2nd November. In KR I know we have a lot of trail runners, those who think that spending the day out on the trails running mountains and fording streams is the only way to be free. This year I hope we can get a big contingent of the KRew up to Acron Oval to take on this beautiful course in Garrigal National Park. https://barecreektrailrun.com.au

For a friendly, low pressure local race series that is very reasonably priced, has various distances on offer and held is some of the most scenic parts of Sydney, check our Sri Chinmoyhttps://au.srichinmoyraces.org/sydneyraces

Of course, there are many races throughout the year that the KR will do, such as those out at Sydney Olympic Park and around the foreshore. We will highlight as many we think of, but if you have one to promote you think the KRew will love, let us know!

If you want to find some races for yourself, I highly recommend using The Running Calendar website which lists just about every race in Australia. If you find a race that has a KR Team and needs a code let me know. Or if you are the first KR to sign up for a race, please create a KR team and let me know.

Tuesday Speed Sessions these are held every Tuesday at the place Gore Hill Oval at 6:30pm. All Welcome! See you there!

If you are bringing bags tonight, Greg we will be there with his car to hold them whilst you run. (But please pick them up as soon as we have finished the run!) Thank you, Greg, very much appreciated!!

That’s a wrap for this week; remember to take care of yourself and others.

Keep running @everyone and happy trails,

Steve
