The City of Kirkland is creating a Station Area Plan for city
property surrounding the NE 85th Street intersection (the
intersection itself is DOT property). The purpose of the plan is
to look at how neighborhoods near the station can leverage the
Sound Transit regional transportation investment (BRT station and
intersection upgrades) to create the most value and quality of
life for Kirkland.
Note: the Station Area Plan does not address the intersection
upgrades or the BRT station itself, because those are not city
projects.
The Station Area Plan Draft Supplemental Environmental Impact
Statement (Draft SEIS) will be available on January 5 at
https://www.kirklandwa.gov/stationareaplan. Submit written
comments between Jan 5 and Feb 5 to
Allison Zike at az...@kirklandwa.gov.
An Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) looks at possible
impacts and mitigation measures for several plan alternatives
being studied, across elements like air quality, aesthetics,
stormwater, transportation, housing, public services, and more.
The Draft SEIS provides information to help pick the best plan
for the future of the Station Area.
