From Highlands resident who has been spearheading efforts to address the water pressure issues in the Highlands:
If you’re interested in your home being considered for review (and potential improvement) you should opt in for an assessment with the city: https://us.openforms.com/Form/cd1a5f4e-9654-4a09-8071-e5d5348160ba City of Kirkland page with updates on these water pressure issues: https://www.kirklandwa.gov/Government/Departments/Public-Works-Department/Water/Highlands-Water-Pressure-Conversion Below is a slightly longer & detailed update: In October several Highlands neighbors attended a Highlands Neighborhood meeting with officials from the city of Kirkland public works dept (water dept). During this meeting the public works dept walked through the issues, why the improvements were made, and acknowledged that the impacts on the highlands are more severe than anticipated. A big takeaway from this meeting is that the city is considering several short and long term remedies. An immediate action item is selecting a plumbing contractor to assess the impacts and make recommendations. Something the city is considering is offering a grant to pay for a booster for individual homes to get them back up to reasonable levels of pressure. These in home assessments may be a big factor is getting this approved (IMHO, not something the city told me) I raised my hand to be a guinea pig for these assessments since my biggest issue with our irrigation system which needs to be winterized ASAP. Last week I met with 4 officials from the city at my home, including Tom Chriest from the water dept. I showed them my issues, they documented my concerns and we discussed next steps. Tom assured me “nothing is off the table.” It was a nice experience and I felt my voice was heard. If you have not done so, I highly recommend signing up for these consultations/assessments to ensure your voice is heard, especially if you’re one of our neighbors who is experiencing the most severe impacts. If anyone has questions let me know. Hope this helps. Kurt Hannahs kurt.h...@gmail.com
