NYC: Artist needed for KFANYC icon idea so obvious I should have thought about it a year ago

Hi all,

In thinking about the upcoming KinkForAll New York City 3 unconference, as well as the proliferation of KinkForAll unconferences across the nation, it occurs to me that differentiating locales could become increasingly useful, if it is not already important. I put together a San Francisco-specific icon for KFASF,[0] and I just got struck with an idea for a NYC-specific icon.

My idea: a Creative Commons licensed or non-copyrighted image of the Statue of Liberty's torch, modified by an artist more skilled than I so that the flame of the torch is the KinkForAll flame-in-flame icon. I might even go so far as to suggest that the colors be modified to reflect the statue's original copper flame color.

I took the liberty (no pun intended) to put together a mockup of my idea, and a PNG image is attached to this email.

What do you guys think? Any artistically-inclined individuals want to tackle turning my crude and ugly mockup into a beautiful icon for KFANYC3?

Cheers,
-maymay

Weren't the original logo(s) created by Jack? My vote is to ask him to
do it, so that our design look is consistent.

Just my 2 cents.

I'm not sure I understand why we would want another logo, seems like that would become a bit confusing to me. But if someone wants to make one, feel free. I don't think I'll have the time to work on one in the foreseeable future.

No, the original KinkForAll icon and coloring and font choices and so on were created by Sinclair Sexsmith,[0] modified from the BarCamp icon.

I think it's possible to have different people create designs that have a consistent look. That's part of why we share all our resources. :)

I'm not asking someone to make a different logo, I'm asking if anyone wants to create a promotional design that incorporates NYC's iconography. See also the very many different variations of the BarCamp icon.[1][2]

I think it would be *fun,* not required, to promote remix culture. :) That's all.

I won't have time for a little while, but I think it's a very cool
idea - I'll take a stab at it in a couple of weeks.

Among other ideas, could be a fun shirt, and I'd like more KFA shirts.

Cheers,
Sara
