This approach also works fine, but I prefer to have my code be globally portable, which is why I use unzip.exe as hosted by IBM for zip files and use both unzip.exe and 7za.exe in combination when I need 7zip. (usually only for unpacking setup executables and other non-zip archives)

archive extractor unable to download file

I have received an .rar which I wish to unpack as it contains something rather important to me that I need to really have now. However even though I can view the contents of the .rar archive in the Archive Manager, I am unable to extract it due to this error:

The archive should contain two folders within it, each though contain at least 10 audio files as well as a PDF file each (I don't know what the contents exactly should be except for there should be audio files in there, and the content I have described is what I can see from the Archive Manager's view). So the only thing I am left with except the error is one of the folders and one of the audio files, but it says it has 0 bytes in it.

But, when I try to extract backup from archive I receive an error:
gzip: stdin: unexpected end of file
tar: Unexpected EOF in archive
tar: Unexpected EOF in archive
tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now

If you don't experience any issues while extracting another ZIP file, the original one you are having trouble with may be damaged. If you need help fixing it, check our guide on how to repair a corrupted ZIP archive in Windows. That said, if the issue is consistent with all the ZIP files, continue with the fixes below.

As loqs mentioned, the thunar archive plugin doesn't work by itself, its needs an archive manager/application like xarchiver, file-roller, etc, which would be listed under optional dependencies for the thunar archive plugin.

It seems to me that the mime detection libraries are missing and the fallback mechanisms are unable to guess the mime type of the library compressed file (Console_Table - a tar.gz without proper extension). It could be nice if you can report the value of $content_type in drush_file_is_tarball() and also trace the execution of drush_mime_content_type and report where it fails.

I am running into a similar problem. The files which it could not extract from archive are all zero length files. As a test, I deleted the first one from the archive and tried the process again and it went deeper into the restore.

The Mautic update could not complete successfully because of the following error: Could not extract the contents of the ZIP archive to the filesystem. PHP Warning: ZipArchive::extractTo(/home/username/domain.com/mauticmail/.htaccess): failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/username/domain.com/mauticmail/app/bundles/CoreBundle/Update/Step/InstallNewFilesStep.php on line 82

Considering that any attempt to download a folder FROM BOX results in a .ZIP archive being downloaded, it is RIDICULOUS that Box fails to provide ANY MEANS to unzip after the fact or as (even optional?) part of an upload within the web client (i.e., to migrate large folders within Box from say a user account to a group folder).

I strongly support Box adding this functionality. I have a zip archive which is too deeply nested to be unzipped in Windows and need a way to access it! It would be great if it could be unzipped directly within Box.

Hi All, getting the error '7-zip returned an error while trying to extract the archive' when attempting to launch Arcade roms (mame). Only happens when i have the 'extract ROM archives before running' checked in the emulation settings.

Hello All, newbie here. I recently installed Launchbox 13.0 and loaded a bunch of SNES roms from an external drive. The roms are zipped up. I am getting this same "7-zip returned an error while trying to extract the archive" error message when I try to launch a SNES game. I do have 7-zip installed. Any suggestions? Do I have to unzip all of them?

As long as you don't have an overzealous antivirus program quarantining some of your LaunchBox files we use a 7z dll placed in the proper spot by the installer to unextract files. If your emulator supports reading of zip files (or whatever extensions yours are in) then you can go to Manage Emulators and just change your emulator to not extract archive on launch and probably avoid that process entirely.
