Although it was his first time in town, the man responsible for hit tracks such as 'Clap your hands' seemed to have captured the hearts of Batswana as his show attracted over 1000 people. Fashion Lounge however proved to be too small a venue to host such a big event as fans had to quee for hours on end to witness the live performance of their favourite man of the moment. The long queue was not made any bearable by security who appeared to have been told to use maximum force on them. However, the fans braved all to enjoy the show. As usual the club was filled with some of the trendiest people the country has. Most men dressed in a combination of casual and formal whilst the women dressed in funky minis and pants.Unsurprisingly the main music for the night was house which was dished by among others, show host, Dj Easy B, Dj Oscar B and Dj Kops. Dj Kellz made the list of the few Dj's who played hip hop and RnB to the amusement of the fully packed club. Bantwini's most anticipated performance came 30 minutes after midnight causing an even bigger stir in the club. He introduced himself to the crowd and explained how happy he was to be in Botswana for the first time. He thanked all his fans for coming out and also thanked youthful radio station, Yarona fm and Monate Fela Promotions for having given him the opportunity to entertain Batswana. Bantwini opened his performance with 'Butterfly' and ended his eight song set with hit single 'Bum Bum.'His performance also included hit tracks such as 'Summer' and 'You wasting my time' from his 2010 release 'Love light and music'. Bantwini coupled his performance with dance moves seen mostly among Durban night crawlers.\n \n \n \n \n \n window.googletag = window.googletag \n cmd: []\n\n ;\n googletag.cmd.push(function()\n \n googletag.defineSlot('\/1067274\/Mmegi_Blank_MediumRectangle_article_300x250', [300, 250], 'gpt-mmegi_blank_mediumrectangle_article_300x250').addService(googletag.pubads());\n googletag.enableServices();\n googletag.display('gpt-mmegi_blank_mediumrectangle_article_300x250'); \n\n );\n \n \n \n \n
\n Before performing his last track, Bantwini made a remark about the operating hours of clubs in Botswana. He said that he would like to write a letter to the President of Botswana, Ian Khama to reconsider the decision of having clubs shut down at 2am and atleast extend the time to 0400hours.Bantwini later on paid tribute to fellow South African artists who have passed the way for him; the likes of Lebo Mathosa, Busi Mhlongo and Jabu Khanyile. He also promised to come back to Botswana in future for more performances.","author_name":"Correspondent\r\n","author_id":-258,"publish_time":"2011-01-24 00:00:00","max_publish_time":"2011-01-24 00:00:00","permalink":"arts-culture\/zakes-bantwini-show-attracts-over-1000-crowd\/news","summary":"","article_byline":"Correspondent\r\n","is_old_article":1,"visit_count":0,"image_path":"\\\"image_path\\\":\\\"https:\\\/\\\/www.mmegi.bw\\\/uploads\\\/imported_images\\\/2011\\\/January\\\/Monday24\\\/php1E9.tmp.jpg\\\",\\\"cms_type\\\":\\\"liveOld\\\",\\\"small_image\\\":\\\"\\\",\\\"is_updated\\\":\\\"0\\\",\\\"image_cropping\\\":\\\"\\\",\\\"is_copied\\\":\\\"0\\\",\\\"media_type\\\":\\\"0\\\",\\\"image_caption\\\":\\\"\\\",\\\"image_count\\\":\\\"\\\",\\\"vid\\\":\\\"false\\\"","article_tags":"","section_name":"","section_id":null,"sub_section_name":"","sub_section_id":0,"is_archive":"1","article_custom_fields":"\"keyword_tagging\":[\"\"],\"other_keywords\":[\"Zakes Bantwini show attracts over 1000 crowd\\r\\n\"],\"summary\":[\"\"]","is_premium":"","related_articles_ids":"","images":["cms_image_id":12783,"np_image_id":0,"image_caption":"","np_related_article_id":36716,"cms_type":"liveOld","image_description":"","image_path":"uploads\/imported_images\/2011\/January\/Monday24\/php1E9.tmp.jpg","media_type":0,"is_old_image":1,"small_image":"","is_updated":0,"image_cropping":"","media_order":"","is_copied":0,"image_is_deleted":0],"BulletedList":""} },success: function (response)$.each(response, function( index, value ) $(".ajax_widget[data-ajax_widget="+index +"]").append(value););,error: function (jqXHR, textStatus, errorThrown) });flag_load = 0;// }})} Explore Subscribe to Receive latest and breaking news via email Submit Follow us About us Mmegi is the leading independent source of breaking news, latest news, current
