Hello everyone!

I would like to dedicate this upcoming Twelfth Meeting to listen to everybody's views on the future of the group.

In concrete terms, I want to hear everybody's answer to the following questions:
  • How useful has the group been to you personally?
  • What are you looking to gain from your participation in the group?
  • What do you suggest we do to provide more value to you personally?
  • What is your view on how much should the group engage with the Kingston community in general (public activities)?

Feel free to provide any additional views.

The purpose of this activity is to focus our efforts on delivering what we, the members, find useful to ourselves and the people around us.

We can kick off the discussion here in this thread, and pick it up in our upcoming meeting.

This discussion is open to everyone in this mailing list. I hope we do get feedback from everyone. Everybody's opinion matters, so don't be shy!

I am new, so the group being useful to me isn't applicable and I don't know how to make the group more useful to me yet.

I am looking to make business contacts with web developers, sys admins, etc so that if they ever have work overflow, they might send it my way.  Conversely, if I ever have overflow, it would be nice to have professionals I can send work their way.

Secondly, I just love to talk nerdy with nerds and learn about what cool things people are doing.

I like the idea of engaging with Kingston somehow... but I have no suggestions at this time.

Personally, participating in the group has accelerated my learning about Linux and computers overall. It has been rewarding in being able to share some of the knowledge and skills I have acquired.

I think a project of some kind would be of unifying value.

I do not think we should define membership in terms of Queens/Kingston, we are a group with a common interest and we come from different places in life. People from both Queens and from Kingston have things to contribute.

Last, since I am in the IT business new business relationships would be great.

Hi, Ahmad and everyone else,

I haven't been been mobile lately, as I slipped and fell on a patch of ice and managed to undo some old spinal cord surgery. Typing  is a little awkward right now, but I will improve. No permanent damage.

I'll go along with anything the majority proposes. I just wish I had something to add to the suggestions right now. I'm just too loaded with painkillers  to make much sense.

Cheers,
Karel

I am very sorry to hear that, Karel. I wish you a speedy recovery.

Is "loaded with painkillers" as fun as it sounds?!
