Just walked Hay Bay...Cuthill Lane.

Walking it, I would say the ice is 7-8 out of ten.
Snow that was on the ice is completely saturated with the melt from yesterday.

Concerns are some small ( less than 1" high)
No drain hole see, but have not sailed.

I plan to sail tomorrow's and can report then.

Ignore that previous email. Brain cramp.

I sailed the whole lake.
No issues with ice
Ice is an 8.5 and the wind is strong enough that I am going from my 105 (slipping side ways in the puffs) and going to 100.

Great day for ice boating!

 Peter,
Great that you could take advantage of the favorable conditions. Tomorrow’s snow amount will be decisive for the weekend. We might also have good conditions on Lake Memphremagog.

It was great to get into the new boat André for the first time...I see now how comfortable one feels in it.  Very happy to have it.  Did toy notice the sail number in the photo?
Keep us in the loop for Magog.

Regards Peter

Good morning
Here in Hamilton we aren't getting the snow but the days not over yet. We are experiencing an east wind so l'm hoping you are escaping the snow. Looking forward to sailing this Sunday at Hay Bay if you guys go. I'm off next week so if anyone wants to sail during the week let me know. I'll try to come out.
Glad you like your new boat Peter. Let's race soon.
Cheers, les
Ps - Colin. As soon as l can come up, l',ll bring my mast for you to borrow.

Hopefully you will be spared Les.  We are not.   We will see what happens going forward.  Thanks!

Just came from looking at the Bay. Patchy snow cover. Ice is rough but not like Kingston was a couple of weeks ago. I hope to check the thickness this afternoon. We have had sun and warm temps but I suspect the ice will still be thick enough.
Cheers

Good morning,

Snowing hard here, and Magog/lake Memphremagog forecast is for 15cm. All of East hit by this storm.

Bring out skis. And shovels.

It is a great shame as it looks like 6" of D'sD coming and lotsa wind
to drift it up. Yesterday I skated for almost an hour finding lots of
nasty shell ice near the shore. The basic sheet is still substantial
in thickness and strength is the good news (for the longer term, i.e.,
after the next thaw). I am ordering windusrfing equipment to pass the
time. Last night I talked to a guy who had a great 3 weeks in Cuba
recently...

Just walked Hay Bay...
Looked promising with drifts 3-4 inches...then one at 6 inches.

We will need a good melt.

Hello Peter,

Looking at all the snow of Lac St Louis, Hay Bay will most  probably recover first.

Cheers,
André
