Just checked out Col By Lake here in Kingston...informed Warren the following...

Snow 3-5" drifts.
Ice More than 5" (drill did not go through)

I advised Warren that I did not think Col By was a good place to hole a Regatta.

Sight was not sailed...do your homework before you try and sail here...there looks to be a wet spot across the middle of the sheet.

I just went to Lake Col By.

It is completely covered in ice is thick enough to sail on (3" min) but we are getting snow right now.

I may well be ok to race if it does not get to thick.  Peter Van Rossem will have a look on Wednesday afternoon and report.

We are also waiting to hear about the Bay of Quinte from Gord, Don and Dave.  It broke up about 2 days ago and their boats are floating around on a sheet of ice about 300M offshore.

St Louis ice is about 1 inch of 9.5-10 and  it cover the whole bay ….not sure if it will last the big wing though…will keep you posted.

Wind blew out all of lake St Louis ice including Valois Bay  Saturday and Sunday, but ice started forming again last night. From now on, Jack Marzenski should be contacted for reports on St Louis ice, as I will be away in warmer locations.
Cheers,

André

You lucky guys.

I was all set to sail today but its raining hard and blowing 30 kts.  Praying for a deep freeze in Kingston, just hope there is no snow.

Another memorable day on grade 10 ice. Ultra light air made it challenging, but four of us sailed till  3.30pm.
Sorry to rub it in, but we're going back out  tomorrow. More wind is forecast.

I'm sooooo envious!

Sailed all day with Jacek and Miro Balcar on Valois. Great conditions to introduce a friend to iceboating : black ice, 15 km wind, -2 C. I think he's hooked.  Okay the plate could have been bigger, but it's big enough to do some early season tuning and get some boat time. Back sailing today. Can't let black ice on my doorstep go to waste.

Cheers,

André

Trenton.  Similar conditions at Trenton. Areas opened after Sunday’s storm refroze Monday, some pockets wet with snow/slush layer. Areas with “snow ice” unsafe at present time, and not large enough for racing. Belleville conditions unknown at this time. Going scouting for alternates in 1 hr, but suspect similar conditions.
