Just a heads up that several of my local guys are headed to Westport, NY tomorrow to scout/sail lake Champlain there. I understand that the area at the launch  froze at the end of the snowstorm and so only has a bit of snow. However, the area just beyond it is black.

WOW !!!

With cold nights, ice should thicken. Forecast for week good.

INTEREST ?

I just checked out Champlain in Burlington and it is skatable. Had to walk across some extremely beautiful but treacherous rubble field but then there are some bigger sections of glassy black ice. I put countless holes in the ice all over the place. Thickness ranges from 5 to 1-1/2" with most of the stuff being in the 2-in range. It was a nice little skate. I'll go out again tomorrow for a few more hours and explore.

Bonjour DNistes,

Cheers,
André
