Thanks André for the initial bump on the Easterns... I felt the same as you once I say the size of the lake.

I thought, no wonder they didn't advertise it on Kingston Google group as they didn't want many skippers to come on such a small plate.

They had a change of heart after a gentle nudge... So No Easterns. The Easterns should always be held to an NAs standard and be treated with respect over 2 days of competition when able! And any regional IDNIYRA event for that matter, quality over quantity will keep people coming back.

NEIYRA has called the Easterns for this weekend at Long Pond, Cape Cod, near Brewster.
Apart from it being 6 hours from us, and skippers meeting tomorrow at 9.30, this pond is not even 1 mile wide at its longest, narrow bay, mostly 1\2 mile wide. Maybe good for scratch racing.
Am I missing something ?
Why not wait for better conditions and a bigger plate for the most important regatta in the East.

"Hello Andre,

Sad to say there is two inches of wet snow. The wind today will make it even more compacted. We are out of business for now.

Cheers, Bill "

Not sure about Westport, but as of now here at my house it started snowing lightly last evening and there is now 8 plus inches and still snowing lightly! Bob reports it's doing the same in Charlotte. Just guessing and watching the direction of the radar but I bet aweastport is not being spared. 3.4 sounds a little light from this vantage point.

OK. Yes there are 3 webcams at the Westport Marina, but they won’t give us info re snow depth, compactness.
When you hear from Tom, give us an update.

Thanks,

André

Hello Andre, I understand the large red skeeter is still up at the Westport launch. I will touch base with Tom Eletto to find out what his plans are and he can likely update us on the ice

Also, I vaguely recall there being a Webcam up there maybe from the marina there.

Sincerely,
Paul Andre

Subject: Westport ice.

Bonjour Paul-André,

It was most enjoyable to sail with you guys at Westport last Thursday Friday and Saturday.
After the light snowfall of Friday night, some iceboaters sailed Saturday all day, despite the cold.
The forecast for this week calls for a few centimetres of snow, so unless there is new ice, the best bet might be Westport again this coming weekend, depending what the snowfall does to the ice.

Any way you or your guys can check it towards the end of the week ?

Cheers,

André
