to King's Gambit
Hi all,
anybody who knows a good line to play against the kings gambit ?
I think this defense is very good but there must be better than for
instance the Brians counter gambit. 1.e4 e5 2.f4 exf4 3.Bc4 b5 i think,
even tho i do not study much material on the kings gambit, meaby i
should.
But anybody who knows a line against the 3.Bc4 line ? Beside the line i
have just mentioned, as it looses a pawn, or well what do you all think
about a quite move like
3.-g6 to develop calmly and first later try to attack and refute the
white opening ?
It is pretty calm, but the deeper idea is to prevent attacks from B+Q
directly against the black king, and at the same time develop the
bishop to the strong post on g7, after this the knight can eventual
come to e7, or meaby even f6 in these lines. I think there is not much
material on this subject.
I have four games in my database, for which it is hard to believe they
where played with opponents on their highest level, or meaby black just
misunderstood the move 3.-

This game is not impressive for black, i think there where no idea not
playing the bishop to g7, Bg7 + c5! would possible have been a stronger
combination. ?
As you see it where not because of that it where weak players who
played. Black just played unpressicely which is punished in sharp
opening in general!
But i will not write any further as i would never get done with it then.

Hi ThaDoctor
As white i would transpose to the kings knight gambit:
1. e4 e5 2. f4 exf 3. Bc4 g6 4. Nf3 and white has an easy game:
- no Queen check on h4 possible
- short castling possible
- half open f-line for the white rock
- weak black pawn on f4
- if black plays g6-g5 he looses a tempo in a sharp line
