Thomas Calculus is a widely used textbook for introductory calculus courses in universities and colleges. It was first published in 1952 and has gone through multiple editions and revisions to keep up with changes in the field of calculus.

The book covers all the fundamental topics of calculus, including limits, derivatives, integrals, and applications of these concepts. It also includes topics such as multivariable calculus, vector calculus, and differential equations.

The book is suitable for students who are new to calculus and have a basic understanding of algebra and trigonometry. It is commonly used in first and second-year calculus courses in universities and colleges.

The book is popular because of its clear explanations, numerous examples, and exercises for practice. It also includes real-world applications of calculus, making the concepts more relatable and easier to understand for students.

Yes, there is an online version of the book available for purchase. It includes interactive features such as videos, animations, and practice quizzes to enhance the learning experience. However, many students still prefer the physical textbook for studying purposes.

Designed for students in the Engineering Science program. Combines a continuation of the study of vector calculus from MATH 251 with an introduction to functions of a complex variable. Vector functions of a single variable, space curves, scalar and vector fields, conservative fields, surface and volume integrals, and theorems of Gauss, Green and Stokes. Functions of a complex variable, differentiability, contour integrals, Cauchy's theorem. Taylor and Laurent expansion, method of residues, integral transform and conformal mapping. Students with credit for MATH 322 or MATH 252 may not take this course for further credit. Quantitative.

Each student is responsible for his or her conduct as it affects the university community. Academic dishonesty, in whatever form, is ultimately destructive of the values of the university. Furthermore, it is unfair and discouraging to the majority of students who pursue their studies honestly. Scholarly integrity is required of all members of the university. -01.html

RELIGIOUS ACCOMMODATION

Students with a faith background who may need accommodations during the term are encouraged to assess their needs as soon as possible and review the Multifaith religious accommodations website. The page outlines ways they begin working toward an accommodation and ensure solutions can be reached in a timely fashion.

At the end of the exam, applicants must be able to produce a pdf file with their answers. Image files (e.g. photographs) are also accepted, as long as the result is legible. An additional 15 minutes will be allowed for submitting the exam.

The exam consists of a written test marked out of 20 and lasting 180 minutes, covering content taught in Maths A in Portuguese secondary education (10th, 11th and 12th grades), in particular: radicals, powers of rational exponent, polynomials, analytical geometry of the plane and space, trigonometry and trigonometric functions, exponential and logarithmic functions, succession, limits, general study of real functions of real variable, combinatorial calculus, probability and complex numbers.
