Can you trust thisr source to evaluate video software everybody knows that when you pay few thousands dollars for a software you receive more than a fee solution. Remember Ulead Studio, Pinnacle System sold to Corel, remenber Corel Lumiere, Magix for the price versus content is hard to beat. Also you can check Serif, Movavi, at 29$ but no content and much less functions. I am not ready to buy any Adobe product, for 2 reasons price and time to learn. Today Videomaker find that Studio 19,5 is the best consumer product. Can you trust this? I have dozen of examples just remember Avid Studio sold to Corel.

He mentions that Pinnacle Studio comes free with some cameras (is that bad?) and then goes on to indicate that Tom's guide points to its buggy multi-cam editing and slow rendering times (along with lack of 4k support) as reasons to avoid the program. Really? Tom's guide actually indicated that there was a problem with the new multi-cam mode, but since he wrote the article it has been resolved with a patch. Tom indicated that "Rendering times suffered at 60 fps" but the article concludes with a graph showing that Pinnacle Studio had the fastest rendering time of the 5 products tested, including Adobe Premiere Elements, so even Tom is out to lunch on this. The lack of 4K support is for the basic and Plus versions, but is in the Ultimate version. Note that in the graph, the comparison is between Pinnacle basic and Adobe Premiere Elements which costs almost twice the price and should be compared with Pinnacle Studio Ultimate which is a far superior product in my opinion - I have it.

That said, I, and others on this forum, usually tell people to buy the Plus or Premium versions because the basic version is limited and one quickly runs into the limitations. This applies to competitors' products as well. Never buy the basic version.

Bottom line, the products all do basically the same thing but with different inferfaces and different pre-made effects and built-in effects. They allow one to import video clips, images and audio, edit them, and export or burn to a final format. I highly doubt that there is a difference between the top products and the bottom products in the simple part of importing, editing (trimming and arranging) and exporting without any effects. Given the same input, the output will not be any better with high-priced programs. The differences are in the effects.

What other NLE software have you used and how are you basing your comparisons? Simply saying that "Magix sucks ass in options, operation and comunity support" puts you in the same sorry league as the guy who wrote the article about the 6 worst nle's. So in your experienced opinion, which nle's are the best and why? But remember, compare with other products in same category. For example, if you don't know what Video Pro X does and have never used it, you can't make a fair comparison with a similarly priced product like Sony (now owned by Magix) Vegas Pro 13 Edit. And you cannot compare it to Sony (Magix) Vegas Pro 13 which costs 50% more.

Community support? I have not seen you helping out much at all. Do you always expect others to do this? Why don't you help out? Should I take this as a personal insult? I help out, but maybe I shouldn't bother. Is Magix to blame if the "community" is not vibrant? Have you looked at the German and French forums? It's all about people willing to spend time helping others.

I follow three other video forums, Pinnacle Studio, Corel VideoStudio and VideoMaker, plus Corel PaintShop Pro, Magix Xara (Talk Graphics), and Magix Samplitude/Sequoia IPS Community. The Xara forum is by far the most dynamic. Samplitude is always interesting and above the average in its content.

As for Pros, a pro is someone who gets paid for their work. Most of the Samplitude and Sequoia users on the forum are pros and have recording, mixing and mastering studios. Many of the contributers to Magix Xara are also pros, getting paid for graphic design and website design. I am sure that there are many pros using Magix Movie Edit Pro, but probably more using Magix Video Pro X (here is a pro who has used both), which is how it should be. If you ask a "pro" who uses Adobe AE or Premiere Pro exactly how they use the product and what all they do with it, you will probably find that they do not even use half of what is available in Movie Edit Pro Plus or Premium. I took a short seminar from a pro recently who films, edits and produces video for clients. He uses Apple Final Cut Pro and produces excellent videos, but there is nothing magical about them that requires a top of the line nle. He could easily have done them in MEP. (Wow, MEP has an audio mixer!?) The magic was in the filming with good video and sound equipment, and good lighting. The rest was in the story-telling and getting the right shots. No fancy effects.

When you are in the big leagues, you depend on specialists. The director does not do the filming, editing, special effects, make the music, or do the mixing or mastering. There are specialists for these. Each will use the best tools that money can buy, and they won't buy consumer grade products no matter how good they are. Here, with MusicMaker and Movie Edit Pro, we are at the consumer level and trying to do everything. But, you will be hard-pressed to find a movie editor that is as straight-forward to use as MEP Plus/Premium and that can easily be used in conjunction with excellent complementary products like Magix Audio & Music Lab Premium and MusicMaker/Samplitude Music Studio or Samplitude and Magix Xara. Most of the other consumer products can't even come close. Pinnacle Studio Pro Ultimate comes with iZotope Music and Speech cleaner, which is about as good as MEP's normal cleaning tools, but far from Magix MusicEditor 3 which comes with MEP Plus/Premium and MusicMaker Premium.

I am sure this sorry man has no idea of MAGIX. It can do wonders and some of my best award winning contect has been with MAGIX. The forum is powerful with selfless teachers and critics. Kindly use MAGIX first and pass your judgement. Else you make a fool. For independent film-makers without any gimmick I thinkit is excellent. And I have recommened to many friends.

use fruit loopz. Done. no point getting emoitional over a product that is obvioulsy inferior to its competion. And considering i have been a member here since MAGIX had 29000 members....i never heard of you two below so 'nuff said - Removed by Moderator

I am on the Forum almost every day and have posted many replies to questions. Anirban has posted many questions. You can simply click on our names and review our questsions and answers under both the Q&A part and the Forum part, Media uploaded (I have not uploaded any), and Tutorials (I have about a dozen). I have 3100 points and 521 Thanks, you have 220 points, 0 Thanks, 13 Media uploads, 10 Answers to the Q&A part, 0 answers to the Forum part. There are 170 pages of my answers to only the Q&A part. So, if you have never heard of either Anirban or myself, it's probably because you haven't been watching or bothered to look.

As for FL Studio (old name was Fruit Loops), it is a music audio program and we were discussing video programs. I am definitely not going to replace Magix Video Pro X or Movie Edit Pro with FL Studio, and I doubt that many, if any, of the Pros who use Samplitude would even consider FL Studio to be a serious contender as a DAW. Perhaps you would like to take a look on the Samplitude/Sequoia IPS forum.

If you are comparing FL Studio to MusicMaker, then make sure that you are comparing similar products and prices. MusicMaker does not pretend to be a DAW, whereas FL Studio does. You state that "no point getting emoitional over a product that is obviously inferior to its competition" but this is not obvious to me and you have provided no comparative information. Each product has its strengths and weaknesses, so what are the strengths and weaknesses of the two products of comparable price range and features (basic, premium)? Be specific.

My project marker cursor has stopped moving and I've tried everything that's been posted, to no avail. I have no idea where to go from here. If it can't be fixed then I can't edit my projects. Does that mean that I have to forget Magix and go to another software?

no this is fun. besides i'm not the one getting all fired up over a crappy music program. in my opinion, any one person that holds any company in such high regard needs to re-examine how loyal they are to the human race.
