Haveyou felt this kind of hopelessness and regret, realizing the darkness of your heart? Has the great mountain of your pride, selfishness, cruelty, greed, and lust seemed to block out the light of the love of God?
I want you to know that not only is this feeling common, but it is a natural response from those who have an encounter with the perfection of God. These feelings are evidence that God, in his love, has been showing himself to you.
The reason for this common self-assessment is the immeasurable perfection of Almighty God. In comparison to his infinite goodness, even a gentle, loving woman like Mother Teresa looks the same as the worst of all sinners. There is no one who can compare to God's holy purity and perfection.
But the unlimited love of God will not stop pursuing us no matter how far we might flee from him. There is no darkness that his light cannot dispel. There is no cruelty that his gentleness cannot transform. There is no addiction that his power cannot tame. There is no lust that his faithfulness cannot purify. There is no greed that his generosity cannot quell. The death of Jesus has paid the penalty for the totality of our sin, and he freely offers forgiveness to all who put their trust in him.
Are you ready to receive his grace into your life and let him take that mountain of sin that is crushing your hope and joy? Tell Him. Pour out your heart to him, and receive his forgiveness for your life. You might say something like this:
If this is a step you are ready to take or have questions about what all this means for you, connect with one of our mentors and let them know. They would love to help you know more about this Jesus whose infinite perfection has made a way for you to be free from your sin.
This is a collection of prayers and poems I write weekly(usually for the occasion of meditation on the Sabbath rest of the Lord) and share with loved ones. I decided to share them here in the hope that they will bless you and give honor to my King.
This poem was inspired because I literally almost could have burned my house down with a pot of stock I was cooking when I fell asleep.
The whole entire house has been permeated with putrid burnt turkey bone smell since Sunday evening.
Oh treasured one, so naive
I have given You this season so that you could see
refining through the fires of repentance
then the chance to don change as your beautiful adornment
and the dance we dance on this last night
resplendant
is meant to lead you back into your everyday life
with a renewed commitment
oh precious lover of my soul,
allow me to remember when the walls enclose
when no more I can smell the warmth of morning
and taste the sounds of nature dawning
when no longer I can feel the song of the stars
or focus in on the peace You have etched into my heart
Nothing could be further from the truth. To truly be holy means to be fully and passionately connected and identified with our inner self, while at the same having the capacity to express that through our day-to-day life.
The Torah teaches us that to truly be a holy person, we need not run away from the world and up towards the soul, rather we must grab the world with all of its glory, identify and fill it with the majesty of our own unique divinity. This Sukkot, let us take the time to remember how high we reached on Yom Kippur and find many ways to channel those moments into our day to day lives and elevate even the little things.
Tehillim 119; 49 Remember the word to Your servant, In which You have made me hope. 50 This is my comfort in my affliction, that Your word has revived me.51 The arrogant utterly deride me, yet I do not turn aside from Your Torah.
Devarim 8; 1All the commandments that I am commanding you today you shall be careful to do, that you may live and multiply, and go in and possess the land which the LORD swore to give to your forefathers. 2You shall remember all the way which the LORD your God has led you in the wilderness these forty years, that He might humble you, testing you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not.
Tehillim 51;9 Hide Your face from my sins And blot out all my iniquities.10Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me. 11Do not cast me away from Your presence And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. 12 Restore to me the joy of Your salvation And sustain me with a willing spirit. 13Then I will teach transgressors Your ways, And sinners will be converted to You.
Proverbs 3;13How blessed is the man who finds wisdomAnd the man who gains understanding. 14For her profit is better than the profit of silver And her gain better than fine gold. 15She is more precious than jewels; And nothing you desire compares with her. 16Long life is in her right hand; In her left hand are riches and honor. 17Her ways are pleasant ways And all her paths are peace. 18She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her, And happy are all who hold her fast. 19The LORD by wisdom founded the earth, By understanding He established the heavens. 20By His knowledge the deeps were broken up And the skies drip with dew. 21My son, let them not vanish from your sight; Keep sound wisdom and discretion, 22So they will be life to your soul And adornment to your neck. 23Then you will walk in your way securely And your foot will not stumble. 24When you lie down, you will not be afraid; When you lie down, your sleep will be sweet. 25Do not be afraid of sudden fear Nor of the onslaught of the wicked when it comes; 26For the LORD will be your confidence And will keep your foot from being caught.
Rising from the dust
I feel brand new
no longer shake myself from sleeping
with desire, fear or weeping
no longer seeking empty vessels
broken that wont last
no longer tasting elements of
who I was in my shattered life past
Rising from the water
I am reborn
for so long I have yearned and prayed
to be unburdened
head once more shorn
feet shod with purpose
a drive to walk and grow
no longer trembling, stumbling
wherever the wind might blow
Rising from my face
I wear a confident smile
pushing past the entangled weeds
past the breakers to deep waters, so vast yet mild
patiently You led me, touching my hair as I cried
tenderly You held me, knowing all the while
my heart had never turned from You
I only lingered in a shadow
forgetting You are all that is true
squandering only that which truly matters
now clothe me in the newness
the renewal of our Love
I glorify You willingly
singing praises as the dove
I feel like flying
but I have learned not to make a move without
rising from the ashes, being washed in Your adore,
please take me deeper in this love
even farther than we had been before
I know perhaps that some of your flock
may not understand what they read or know why they walk
and although I pray to learn each day
there is resolute purpose in why I worship this way
to me its not a trite motion
or cute fleeting display
this relationship is active
and alive anew each and every moment of the day
Therefore, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed, not only in my presence, but now even more in my absence, continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God who works in you to will and to act on behalf of His good pleasure. Do everything without complaining or arguing,so that you may be blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and perverse generation,a in which you shine as lights in the world as you hold forth the word of life, in order that I may boast on the day of Messiah that I did not run or labor in vain. Philippians 2; 12-16
How can I give you up, O Ephraim?
How can I surrender you, O Israel?
How can I make you like Admah?
How can I treat you like Zeboiim?
My heart is turned over within Me,
All My compassions are kindled.
Hosea 11; 6-8
precious piece forever bound to the one I desperately miss
I feel you mourn beyond the many miles betwixt
the tears, the fears, the questions with which
in small inequivalent ways I can be empathetic
I thought today of your sentiment
about the little things that have become most relevant
May His great name be blessed forever and to all eternity.
Blessed and praised, glorified and exalted, extolled and honored, adored and lauded be the name of the Holy One, blessed be He, beyond all the blessings and hymns, praises and consolations that are ever spoken in the world; and say, Amen.
I fall to the floor like
a garment all used up
stained and dirty
as His magnificence is
magnified
you became the reason for me
to get prepared
you gave me beautiful dresses
and a place for them to wear
the truth, the evidence, the witness of Your work
is much stronger than the idle, hurtful, unreasonable, wicked tongue
what passes from the slayer to the hearer in the shadows
can not undo what Your testimony has done
to focus on the painful words and things that have caused us suffering
will become an overwhelming poison polluting every passage and vein
I will sift out Your voice from the bitterness and know You too had something to share
then I will burn to ash in an unclean place all the filth, which first made me despair
so burn tiny spark, once more lit
all creation, do you not yet see?
His splendor
untangling the mangled, unbinding every fence
weaving truth, extravagance in the telling
chaos into sort, dull bland drone to vivid taste
oh soul overflow what my King has pre arranged
but the sand and the water,
the function of my hands
the breath that slowed within me
inspiration to form and plan
that all came from You
so Who truly made the vessel
and I am sure of Who filled it
it is
All You
but the Words are Yours
and the Spirit is Yours
and the Will is Yours
and the Inspiration is Yours
and the Motivation comes from You
and nothing is new, nothing I have done
and it is You
You
You
