SQLyog v0.9 was first released to the public in 2001 after eight months of development. SQLyog was available free of charge, but with closed source code, until v3.0 when it was made a fully commercial software. Nowadays SQLyog is distributed both as free software as well as several paid, proprietary, versions. The free software version is known as Community Edition[3] at GitHub. Paid versions are sold as Professional, Enterprise and Ultimate Editions.[4]
SQLyog works on the Windows platform ranging from Windows Vista[10] to Windows 10. (Windows 9x/ME support was removed in version 5.0, Windows 2000 support stopped with version 8.6, and Windows XP support ended with version 12.5.) It has also been made to work under Linux and various Unixes (including macOS) using the Wine environment.[11] Further, a subset of SQLyog Enterprise/Ultimate functionalities are available with the free SJA (SQLyog Job Agent) for Linux as a native Linux utility. This makes it possible to specify and test "scheduled jobs" on a Windows environment and port execution parameters seamlessly to a Linux environment.[12]
On window, you could try Mysql Workbench. It is a little bit clunky and some options are hard to find, but it works well with ssh tunnelling to remote databases. See this example on how to configure Workbench for remote databases:
BTW I tried connecting with Mysql Workbench and it repelled me once again with two crashes just while trying to setup an ssh connection to vagrant box, reminding me why I chose to stay with pma in the first place.

You say you've had problems with Navicat. For the record, I use Navicat and I haven't experienced the issue you describe. You might want to dig around, see if there's a reason for your problem and/or a solution, because given the question asked, my first recommendation would have been Navicat.
Toad for MySQL by Quest is free for non-commercial use. I really like the interface and it's quite powerful if you have several databases to work with (for example development, test and production servers).
Webyog is a great example of accidental entrepreneurship. Rohit Nadhani, an early adapter of programming, was an active programmer from his high school days. In 1994, he created a product that cloned the features of Tally, a well-known accounting software program in India. Nadhani started his first venture with this product but did not manage to make it very big. Moving his attention to the new wave of open source database, Nadhani started working on MySQL. The entrepreneur soon realized the problems of working with MySQL using a command line interface and, with his brother, created SQLyog, a graphical interface to make programming efforts. Unlike with his earlier efforts, Nadhani had no intention of monetizing this product and made it available to everyone on the Internet. Active in various MySQL forums, Nadhani promoted his software to a large number of MySQL users, who started using the product and provided feedback to improve it. After generating a loyal follower base, Nadhani wondered if his software could be monetized, and he took plunge in his second entrepreneurial venture with the enterprise version of SQLyog. The venture took off, generating $5,000 in revenues in the first month, and Webyog was incorporated in 2004.
Webyog did not target any specific industries or verticals, although it recognizes that certain customer segments are particularly important. Small Web development companies and Web 2.0 companies that use MySQL for dynamic Web pages are prime targets, along with the IT departments of big companies that use MySQL for their internal applications. Webyog currently has over 17,000 customers, including Google, IBM, Verizon, and Amazon.

MySQL has always lacked the sophisticated profiling tools shipped with proprietary databases like SQL Server, etc. MySQL developers have largely depended on EXPLAIN for tuning queries. The SHOW PROFILE patch by Jeremy Cole was introduced in the MySQL Community version 5.0.37 and it provided much more insight into where the query spends its time. However, to take advantage of this feature, MySQL developers were supposed to switch on profiling, run their queries and then filter the profiling data from a table that contained the profiling results of the last few profiled queries. A lot of manual book-keeping is required to take advantage of this powerful feature. In an ideal situation, the MySQL developer should execute the queries and the profiling info should be available along with the result-set. Unfortunately, none of the MySQL client tools (desktop or web-based) provide intrinsic support for this feature.
Another great tool to profile queries is mk-query-profiler, part of maatkit. It does an incredible job in displaying the changes in STATUS variables due to execution of a query. It also presents the information in a very readable format, making it easy for the developer to tune queries. However, one problem with this tool is the lack of integration with any MySQL GUI client tool. So if an user is using a GUI tool to write queries, she needs to profile queries in a separate step using mk-query-profiler.
SQLyog 8.0 tries to address these problems by integrating all of the above profiling methods in a single intuitive GUI. It takes care of switching on profiling and taking the snapshot of the STATUS variables before and after the execution of query. It then aggregates these data (along with EXPLAIN and EXPLAIN EXTENDED results) and presents the aggregated info in a single window. The user just needs to type the query as usual and all other commands required to capture profiling information are executed behind the scenes by SQLyog. Also, along with the changes in the STATUS variable, the profiler shows a simple description of the STATUS variables that changed due to execution of the query.
Though SQLyog has added tons of features to its quiver, it looks the same as it did in 2004. So, we thought of overhauling its looks. Result was adding new icons with Vista theme, toolbar containing large icons for frequently used tasks, gradient based tab and grids, etc. Here is a screenshot of SQLyog 8.0.
