POETRY SLAM feat. KIM JOHNSON

8:30 sign up / 9:00PM show (get there early!)
donations requested (no one turned away)
Greetings, salutations, and welcome to the spring quarter. Tomorrow's feature is Kim Johnson, whose feet-on-the-ground head-in-the-clouds surrealism will leave you in a joyous weeping heap. I promise. Everyone I know is grumbling that they only got a week between quarters but, hey, forget about school! Come listen to poetry! Hell, come read poetry!
AS some of you might know, last week our very own slam team went to Albuquerque, New Mexico, to compete in the National Collegiate Poetry Slam. Their first place finish in the first bout was, unfortunately, not enough to propel them to the finals stage, but the team performed beautifully. The team didn't leave, though, without some recognition. Kevin Holmes and Bryan Gigantino's group poem "Titanium Pussy" was voted "best comedic piece" AND "best group piece" in the whole competition. Titanium pussy, indeed.

PPS. Due to the upcoming renovation of Cowell College, the slam will have a new venue come May. Stay tuned!
