+++++++++++KINETIC POETICS PRESENTS!+++++++++++

yo yo yo. As hot as it's been in Santa Cruz, the upcoming events will be hotter than lighting your car on fire. And then parking it on the surface of the sun. Let's take a look, shall we?

SCHEDULE:
1/19 (MLK day!) - Performance Workshop with Andrew Lowe
--Stuck on campus for the holiday? Considering reading at the last chance slam but unsure about your performance? Come down to the Oakes Guzman Room (by the Oakes Cafe) from 6pm - 8pm for a workshop to spit-polish your stage presence. Andrew Lowe is a former member of both the UCSC Slam Team and the Berkeley City Slam Team and is known for his fiery words and daring performances. He will also be the coach of the 2009 UCSC slam team. If you want to compete in the festival, you should come to this workshop! Bring poems of your own to work on to use poems provided by Andrew.

1/22 (Thursday) - Last Chance Slam!
Interested in competing at the Kinetic Poetics Project? Want a place on the 2009 team? This is the last chance to qualify for team semi-final's. Sign-ups at 8:30, show at 9:00 at the Oakes Learning Center. Priority will be given first to those who have not yet been able to read at a slam, and then to those who have read and not qualified. Remember! To compete in the festival you will need a total of four poems. Come prepared! Be fierce! Show love! With a special appearance by the Stanford Writing Collective. Hosted by the ever-lovely Elliot Kuhn.

2/1-2/4 - Kinetic Poetics Project in its 7th Season

This year we are proud to announce performances by: Buddy Wakefield, The Spilljoy Ensemble, Verbobala, Salt Lines, Rainbow Theatre, SIN, Isang Himig, Cloud 9, and many others. The raucous mix of student and professional spoken word, from raw to polished, from heartbreaking to enlightening, is not to be missed. Including a full workshop series by local and touring poets.  For more information, go to: kineticpoetics.com. If Facebook is your thing, the events are posted here:
