I bought a Kindle Wi-Fi from Amazon. Which network should we use (in bangalore) that provides me access to their Whispernet? Most of them I see are not public Wi-Fi networks. What does Amazon mean by saying free wireless access when it comes to the Kindle-Wifi version?

Hi Viswa,

I presume you have bought the 3G version (i.e. Kindle Wifi + 3G) costing around $189 in US. If so, then it should automatically connect to some service provider and while I don't know if it will be 3G you should get Edge or GPRS connectivity. Other Bengaluru users with the 3G version can perhaps comment.

If it is just the wi-fi version you have then you need to be in some public wifi spot.

:-(

Others will have different operating styles, but you know, so far, in the 8 months I have had it in India, I've not missed not having connectivity on Kindle out of home. If I need to do any ebook purchasing I do it from home. I find the Kindle too klutzy for any other kind of net browsing (even a Blackberry seems to offer a better experience).
