Kindle firmware update from Amazon!

Hi Friends,

Amazon has updated the Kinds 3 firmware software from version 3.03 to 3.1. They have added a couple of new features like Public Notes, Real Number Pages, Notes sharing using social networks etc.  You can download the new firmware and updates your kindles (after taking the backup!).

I have tried this on my kindle and it works out pretty well.

Hi Jaspreet,

I own a Kindle 3 3g and want to upgrade the firmware.
When I follow the link specified in your post, I can see the downloads
only for US and European users. However, I tried downloading the
firmware meant for US customers(one with B006). But it doesn't work,
Can you please direct me to the link from where I can download the
firmware meant for India.

Hi Harish,

Check for the Serial number of your Kindle 3G and update it with the matching firmware (see below).

You can find the Serial number of your Kindle on the Settings Page under the Device Info. Download and update the firmware only with the correctly matched file.

Kindle Wi-Fi: Download 3.1 
Your serial number will start with "B008"

Kindle 3G (Free 3G + Wi-Fi) - U.S. and Canadian Customers*: Download 3.1  
Your serial number will start with "B006"

Kindle 3G (Free 3G + Wi-Fi) - European Customers*: Download 3.1
Your serial number will start with "B00A"
