Two weeks ago, our Calimesa Adventurers club decorated cookies and made goody baskets and cards for the families staying at the
Loma Linda Ronald McDonald House, whose mission is: "to provide
a 'home away from home' for families of critically ill
and injured children receiving medical treatment at Loma Linda University
Children’s Hospital and nearby medical facilities." They did a great job! The next day a few of our Calimesa Adventurers families had the fun of delivering those treats to the Ronald McDonald Hose families, who were very thankful for both the goodies and the love they represented.
Now, here's the next step in our club's project to help Ronald McDonald House and the families it serves: the
Walk for Kids 2011 on Sunday, April 10, 8-11 a.m., at Victoria Gardens in Rancho Cucamonga. It's a 5K walk-a-thon to raise money and should be a whole lot of fun.
We'd love to have lots of our Calimesa Kindergartners (whether they're Adventurers this year or not) join in the good times! First, we need to
sign up and work on getting sponsors. How?
- Go to the team page for Calimesa young families. (Our team is called "The Dolphins.")
- Click on "Join our team."
- Follow the instructions from there.
Once you've done that, you can work on getting sponsors in lots of ways. Here are some ideas:
- (Easiest) Use the "Spread the Word" online tool to email friends and family, who can donate online.

- Print and share the attached fliers.
- After you email people, call or visit to remind them.
- Send a shoebox or can to your mom or dad's work and have them collect donations.
It's going to be exciting to see how much support we can generate for this beautiful cause. We have a week and a half till the walk, so if you're game,
please sign up as soon as possible and begin finding sponsors. Have fun!
Mike
