Hello,

We are running Killbill 0.18.7 and are seeing unexpected behavior in terms of account credit.

Having added an account credit of $50 (see attached killbill_add_credit.png), the account info displays the account credit under account balance, which is unexpected (we are used to credit appearing under account credits) - see killbill_account_balance.png.

The generated invoice for account credit is presented in killbill_credit_invoice.png.

The problem we are seeing is that when a subscription is created for this account, after the account credit has been applied, the existing account credit is NOT applied to the subscription invoice. For example, when a subscription priced $99 is created on the account with $50 in credit, the invoice for the subscription does not apply the $50 credit but generates a payment for $99. We expect the invoice for the subsription to contain an adjustment for account credit which should generate a payment of $49 in this case.

Would you have any thoughts as to why the account credit is not applied to a subscription's invoice?

Thank you,

Nadya.

0.18.7 is quite old already. Have you tried reproducing it on 0.18.19, maybe in a test environment?

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to reproduce it locally.

If you can reproduce it on 0.18.19, the easiest is probably to send us a KPM export for the problematic account:

Hi Pierre,

Thank you for your response! We will pencil trying out this use case on Killbill 0.18.19 into our schedule.

Thank you,

Nadya.

Hello,

I’m following up on this issue, now that we’ve upgraded to 18.20.

The behavior we’re seeing is different, but still not desired.

After creating a Credit, the credit amount is now not reflected in the UI at all (previously, on 18.07, it showed up as a Balance, which was still odd).  [after_credit_of_50.png]

Creating the credit generates an invoice [credit_invoice.png], however when a subscription is purchased, the credit is not applied and there is a charge for the full amount.  We would expect the credit to be applied and a charge only for the remaining balance.

Are we doing something wrong? What is the preferred way of applying credits to an account such that the credit will be used the next time the account is charged for something?

Thanks,
Cary

Hi Cary,

I'm still unable to reproduce it on Kill Bill 0.18.21 with Kaui v0.16.2.

Can you try your scenario in a brand new environment, and compare the HTTP requests / config in your current environment, to see what's different?

Hi Pierre,

Upgrading to the killbill 0.18.21 and kaui 0.8.9 (from 0.8.7) docker images appears to have fixed the issue; we're suspecting the kaui version bump helped, but are not quite sure of the details.
Doing so brought up this question, though: how do the kaui docker image versions correspond to the kaui versions (there are 0.9.0 and 1.0.x versions, but no 0.16.x versions?), and is there a place that has the changelog/release notes for kaui docker images (there don't appear to be any 'releases' in the https://github.com/killbill/killbill-admin-ui-standalone/ repository)?

Thanks,
-Joe

Kaui is really an aggregation of various repositories (UI plugins), the main one being https://github.com/killbill/killbill-admin-ui/releases. We haven't done release notes for Kaui so far, we'll see what we can do in the future to do better.

Cheers,
