Hi Kill Bill Team,

I hope you’re doing well.

I’m currently evaluating the Aviate Tax plugin and wanted to clarify its capabilities regarding tax calculation in the United States.

From the documentation, it appears that Aviate Tax operates at the country level. However, our use case requires calculating taxes at the U.S. state (and potentially county/city) level, based on the customer’s address.

Could you please confirm:

  • Whether Aviate Tax currently supports tax calculation at the U.S. state or sub-jurisdiction level

  • If there are any recommended approaches or configurations to achieve this using Aviate

  • Or if the preferred solution would be to integrate with an external tax provider (e.g., AvaTax plugin or similar)

If possible, we would also appreciate any guidance or best practices for implementing U.S. sales tax within Kill Bill.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Best regards,
Dainel Rivero

Hi Dainel,

Yup, today Aviate Tax primarily operates at the country level, as it was initially designed around VAT use cases. It does not yet natively support U.S. tax calculation at the level of individual tax jurisdictions (state, county, city) or handle nexus determination out of the box.

We do have plans to expand the plugin toward more granular jurisdiction support. Contact me directly (pierre@<domain>) with your detailed requirements around nexus, jurisdictions, and expected launch date. I can then check with the team if our roadmap would match your timeline and expectations.

Thanks,
