From Khenpo Tsering Samdrup
From today, the month of Saga(saga dawa)
starts. It is considered the most the important and special
month for buddhist people.
There are three main reasons:
BUDDHA WAS BORN IN THIS MONTH (IN LUMBINI)
HE REACHED ENLIGHTENMENT IN THIS MONTH (AT
BODHGAYA)
AND FINALLY HE PASSED WAY IN TH SAME
MONTH. (AT KUSHI NAGAR).
Therefore the power of the blessings of
these events in Buddha's life is what makes this month
so special and important, special for practice. it is said
that the merit and blessings of practices that one engages in
during this month(specially from 10th through 25th may which
is full moon and also the enlightenment and parinivarna day)
becomes immeasurable. so this time period truly is a great
opportunity for us who cannot afford so much time to practice
to practice and accumulate merit for the benefit of oneself
and others.
Wishing you all a very auspicious and practiced Saga Dawa
month (month of Saga) Please try not to miss this most special
and important opportunity. Thank you all.
