Hi Dizzy
Welcome to the list!
Not sure what age group you are looking to start entertaining but you would
love Terry Herbert's DVD

There are so many little things you can try out to control and
entertain the kids - the book that most helped me out was by David Kaye
(aka Silly Billy) as it had really good routine ideas and the theory
behind the routine - why it works etc. You can get it at-

Hope this helps? If anyone has any specific tips on handling unruly
kids would love to hear some funny ones!

Hi everyone, thanks for the tips!
I ordrered Terry Herberts dvd and absolutely loved it, I'm now going to
order his under fives version too. I have also orderered the silly
billy book and that will be sent from the states this week(really
looking forward to reading it).
I can really reccomend the book "kids think it's funny" by The wizard
of odd, really funny routines and great tips, also "making the birthday
dough" by ken Scott.

Does anyone have any useful ideas on low cost marketing and advertising
or tips on way to get your name around?
Greatly appreciate all your replies
Cheers
Dizzy

Hi Dizzy.
You have made a great choice in your books and DVDs, and you will love the Silly Billy book, it is packed with loads of great advice, can I also reccomend a DVD from "Practical Magic" called "Milking" by Jozo Bozo.
As for advertising, please PM me for some ideas.
I noticed your name as "Dizzy",did you know there is already an VERY
suscessful Childrens entertainer called "Dizzy Lizzie?".
Best Regards
Chubby Harris & Co.

Hi Dizzy

If you are serious about getting ahead as a children's entertainer you
should be reading these 2 books.

"How to Become Your Area's TOP Children's Entertainer" by Eric
Paul

And "More Shows More Money" by C J Johnson

Buy them NOW!...It will be the best investment in YOUR business.

Dizzy - yes it is unfortunate you have the same name as an already
established entertainer - would it be too late to change it?

Personally I found weekly ad publications didn't work for me as you
have to catch the person reading it at the right time of year to get a
booking - in Sussex we have a 4 yearly publication called ABC magazine
and it's perfect to advertise in as it goes out to all the parents and
all potential clients, so if you had something like in your area give
it a go. It is also expensive to advertise so the parents know you're a
serious entertainer to be in it!

Hope this helps - of course soon enough you'll be able to rely on word
of mouth and recommendations which is the cheapest and most effective
advertising of all!!

Hi Dizzy

Just Google the title and author and you will get their website.

Note: They are based in the USA by no problem getting them as they both
take credit cards.

Let me know how you get on.

Colin
