CRB Checks

Hi everyone

I have noticed on a lot of kid entertainer sites that they have been
CRB checked. I thought i might look into this so that i could offer
peace of mind to my clients, however, it appears that you cannot do a
check on yourself, a company or organisation has to ask for a check and
they have to initiate the application. Am i right to believe this or
have i mis understood the procedure as it all sounds a bit confusing to
me.
Can anyone shed any light on this for me?

That's my understanding too
I am a member of a local community group and they did a check for me three
years ago
Then just last month a local museum run by the council rang me for a job and
asked how old my CRB was...when I told them it was three years they asked if
they could apply for a new one for me...they paid the fee..!!

So...get a job where they need one and ask them to pay!!
