Scrapbooking can be defined as preserving memories by arranging photos, a page title, journaling and embellishments in an attractive layout after which the completed page is then put into a scrapbook album for the family, loved ones and your own enjoyment.
For specific themes, a good idea to try is to set a consistent layout design for all the pages for a unified look. By planning your theme page design in advance, it will save you time when you are creating your pages, help you to utilize your theme supplies more fully and give you a harmonious feel to the overall look of your scrapbook.
For a non-theme based scrapbook where you create each page whenever you feel like it, you can simply play around with the placement of elements and try to achieve an eye-pleasing arrangement for that particular layout.
Take a look on this page to find out the basic steps to creating a layout. You can also watch a video here to see how to put together a scrapbook layout. Then go gather some basic scrapbook supplies and try scrapbooking your first layout. Enjoy!
If you would like to bind your scrapbook pages together, usually we would get a scrapbook album such as a 3-ring or D-ring album with page protectors where you can slot your completed layouts into them, in order for you to flip through the pages and view your scrapbook pages. An example of a 3-ring album.
Hi, I need some help. I want to make my bestfriend a scrapbook for her birthday but I am not sure of how to put the pages together. Do I put them in a binder or photo album or is there a special type of book I should get?
You can see that newspaper usually turn yellowish around the edges or all around after a number of years and the newspapers can turn brittle. So letting them stay in your scrapbook might affect the scrapbook pages or even the entire scrapbook album.
1) Scan the newspaper articles and print out these onto acid-free, lignin-free paper, and use them in your scrapbook layouts. The advantages about scanning is that you can save the copy, enlarge and crop out the desired portion, or adjust the colors using a photo editing software.
2) Photocopy the newspaper articles onto acid-free, lignin-free paper at home or bring them to your local photocopying center. Color photocopying allows you to achieve an almost exact replica of the newspaper clipping. Then you can use the copies in your scrapbook layouts.
3) Get an acid neutralizing spray such as the EK Success 1-1/2-Ounce Archival Mist
or the newer Krylon Make It Acid-Free! Spray, 6-Ounce
and spray onto your newspaper clippings to preserve them. Mount the treated newspaper articles onto acid-free, lignin-free scrapbook paper, and store them inside page protectors.
Alternatively, you can choose to use a single-colored background for example white cardstock for all your scrapbook pages in this album for a more consistent look. Then you can use other complementary colors in your photo mats or embellishments etc for each layout. Your theme and your white background would be the obvious unifying factors in this album.
