As with most upgrades of Mac OS X, new wallpapers are available. There are new wallpapers in the Nature (two of which are of snow leopards), Plants and Black and White sub-folders under the Apple folder. Furthermore, there are new Apple wallpaper sub-folders with multiple wallpapers:

In addition, the Mac OS X kernel has been rebuilt to run in 64-bit mode on some machines. On those machines, Snow Leopard supports up to 16 terabytes of RAM. Newer Xserve and Mac Pro machines will run a 64-bit kernel by default; newer iMac and MacBook Pro machines can run a 64-bit kernel, but will not do so by default.[43] Users wishing to use the 64-bit kernel on those machines must hold down the numbers 6 and 4 on the keyboard while booting to get the 64-bit kernel to load.[44][45] A change to the com.apple.Boot.plist will also enable users with compatible computers to permanently boot into 64-bit for those wishing to do so.

9 to 5 Mac wrote an article titled called "The Myth, The Legend: How Snow leopard became synonymous with reliability ." The article is a nice attempt to contextualize Snow Leopard in the greater narrative of OS X, but it falls a bit flat. It makes some decent points, and I don't want to take that away from those, but I think I have a better explanation for why Snow Leopard was so dearly loved. Plus, I have my own opinions about which release of OS X/macOS is the greatest.

I've got a bit of an issue, I've been given five mac books with snow leopard installed with two accounts. An admin account which no one has the login details for (setup by a previous employee) and a standard user account. The standard user account doesn't have permissions to do anything and I mean anything, you cannot view PDF files or listen to MP3 it requires admin privileges. So pretty much these laptops are useless at the moment, I was going to download snow leopard and just do a fresh install however I thought I'd ask here first. Is there some way to reset the admin credentials if I boot into recovery, or something similar to Windows Hirens for OSX.

So Command and R doesn't seem to work on any of the macbooks I made a bootable USB drive with a dmg of snow leopard using transmac and when I boot using the options key I only get the mac hard drive as an option.

The presence of the com.apple.decmpfs attribute is the first hint that this file is compressed. This attribute is actually hidden from the xattr command when booted into Snow Leopard. But from a Leopard system, which has no knowledge of its special significance, it shows up as plain as day.

I already installed the balenaetcher but since it gave me partition missing warning i didn't continue, i am currently downloading other snow leopard image file and will be flashing it using Transmac, if this fail then i will download and try everything mentioned on that site. Hopefully it will work. I will let you know.

the a1278 (which is a 13" macbook pro from 2012) does not support snow leopard. snow leopard came out 3 years before this computer. the oldest os it supports is 10.7.4, which is lion. the newest os it officially supports is 10.15.7 catalina. the newest os it unofficially supports is 13 ventura
