Can't Change Sound

I tried changing the sound in the sound menu but it didn't work. I could see all the options and tap on them, but it just stayed on the default. I closed the menu and went back in a couple of times and it still wouldn't let me pick a different one, so I gave up and left it.

Also, it would be nice if I could block out parts of the page I don't want read. Like if there's a page number at the bottom or a chapter title at the top, I don't need the app reading that out. If I could draw a box around those areas and have the app skip them, that would be really helpful.
