Iam getting a new propane boiler system installed and have gotten several estimates. The one I am thinking of selecting wants to install a Navien NCB 210 Combination Boiler. One of the other estimators told me that On-demand hot water heaters have problems with well water. Apparently the hot water fluctuates between hot and cold. Is this true with the Navien NCB 210 Combi boiler?

Certain modulating condensing boilers are more sensitive to water quality issues. They have narrower heat exchanger passages for the water to travel through. If your well water is a little on the hard side, you can have issues with mineral deposits reducing heat transfer. Water tube and Gianonni heat exchangers tend to be the worst, and I'm not sure which heat exchanger they use.Call Naviens customer service line, and see how responsive they are to you. Ask for specifics about their heat exchanger design...is it water tube or fire tube. Has any of the contractors done a heat loss, to determine what the home requires?

This is a MUST....Before selecting any contractor, get referrals and check them out. Look at some of their other installations. They should be neat and professionally installed. A good company takes great pride in their work, and will be happy to provide this information.
