Currentgraduate students at the Marshall School of Business have access to Wall Street Prep, courtesy of Graduate Career Services. Wall Street Prep is a collection of online training courses that prepare students and professionals for careers in investment banking and corporate finance.

I am beginning an internship in consulting and wanted to take a course in excel beforehand to prepare. I have heard that Train the Streets is great, but I was looking for something more economical. I spotted some courses on Udemy, but don't know which to pick. Do you have any specific courses you could recommend?

You would not believe how many people have messy calendars, cannot send proper meeting invites, dont know how to properly sort inbox and have no proper folder structure. This is the tool that will be open 24/7 on your laptop and the piece of software you use the most.

If there is one thing I wish I had done before joining McKinsey, that would have been Excel. So great that you are thinking about this now, since it can really be a game changer, so I would really focus on that (more than pptx, industry knowledge, etc., that are nice-to-have, but not deal breakers).

This is great that you're preparing for this role ahead of time! Just remember, you do not need to be an absolutel whiz before you start. Most courses will do the trick, so just pick whichever one seems to suit your learning style best.

Important Tip: Don't just learn formulas etc. Test yourself! Download a free data set, ask yourself a question, and try to solve for it. Play with actual data solving real questions and building a real dashboard etc. Don't just passively take lessons :)

The cost is $150 and students can apply for a Career Development Grant to cover the cost. For more details and to apply, visit -funding/. If you have questions, reach out to Holly Robinson hrobi...@wesleyan.edu or Matthew Blair mbl...@wallstreetprep.com

The Summit to Wall Street program is best for rising sophomores and juniors during the summer. Rising juniors will flow right into applications and interviews for post-junior year internships at the end of the summer. Rising sophomores can spend the next year networking with alums and others in the field in order to better their chances at getting a great internship as a rising junior.

Summit to Wall street is a significant time commitment estimating about 8-10 hours per week. The program combines career development strategies (resume, cover letter building, interview prep etc.) and Wall Street Prep courses. Wall street Prep is a global investment banking training platform, specializing in financial modeling self-study programs as well as instructor-led and e-learning modeling training. Both entities of Summit to Wall Street prepare students for the demands of investment banking, corporate finance and sales and trading positions.
