Very nice glider - great size, beautiful color, comfortable, functional, durable, cleanable and silent!
By Prodigy79
I purchased the Rockabye (Newco) Sunny Glider/Recliner in Bella Velvet Coffee to surprise my wife (our son is due on Halloween!)
I did a lot of painstaking research before finally choosing this chair... I was seeking a comfortable / supportive glider that reclines and swivels, with easily cleanable / durable fabric in a neutral color... Something that doesn't look like a 'traditional' baby glider, and can easily be transitioned into a piece of family room furniture when baby tasks are completed.
This chair accomplishes all of my criteria, and my wife absolutely loves it!
The chair arrived packaged securely with back separate from base, enclosed in plastic in a fairly substantial box. The back slides onto rails and clicks secure to the base - very easily done.
**If it doesn't glide freely after you pick it up or carry it, don't panic! Set it in place, pull the lever to recline the chair, push the leg rest back into place and it will
glide freely again!! I guess it's some sort of locking mechanism (probably the one that engages while reclined)**
The Velvet fabric is very soft, and the foam cushions are supportive and comfortable. The frame is manufactured with kiln dried hardwood, and feels pretty sturdy (it didn't have any give or play at all when I carried it up the stairs). The body of the chair is medium sized for a recliner, though the leg rest is a touch short. My 5'1" wife's feet sit right on the end, however I'm 6'2", and it's just long enough to rest my calves. I'm not going to dock a star, however, because it's still very comfortable and has enough support to counter the extra leverage of my leg overhang without retracting. The back of the chair is tall enough to offer me neck support, let alone my wife.
The coffee color is very pretty (coming from a dude, but my wife will back me up on that!) - the pictures don't do it any real justice at all! It's neutral enough to go
with pretty much anything.
I noticed a few reviews calling this a rocker instead of a glider... The one we received is definitely a gliding mechanism.
We're very happy with our purchase of this glider, and can't wait to rock our son in it!! Since this is a furniture quality piece, we're also looking forward to transition it into a family room recliner!
Please keep your eye on pricing - it's tends to change pretty dramatically and somewhat regularly, so allow time and be patient. You should be able to get up to around 47% off the "MSRP" without much effort.

Great value!
By BabySquared
The chair is moderately priced but very comfortable. The swivel is a huge future right after birth as it allows Mom to rotate the chair to access the night stand with minimal pain after her c-section. Overall a great buy so far!

Decent glider, but we ended up going with a La-Z-Boy
By Eliana & Mark
If you're like me you were completely confused by the world of gliders, rockers, recliners and swivels. I spend hours researching online and had difficulty deciding between a Dutailier, La-Z-Boy or the Rockabye. Comfort was a huge factor but I wanted it to look nice enough where it wouldn't stick out like a sore thumb if we put it in another room once the baby was older. I knew I wanted a recliner and decided against a rocker because the front to back motion of a glider seemed much more comfortable and smooth to me than the feel of a rocking chair. I didn't like the fact that the bottom of most Dutailiers were exposed (unsightly) but I did like that they came with a gliding ottoman so you could actually glide with your feet up. Being able glide with your feet up is way more comfortable and the only way to do it with any glider/rocker is with a matching gliding ottoman. This is because all recliners lock in position when the foot-rest is up for added stability and you can't
rock/glide anymore(so that the chair doesn't fall over while reclined). I also couldn't imagine how a Dutailier could be as comfortable as a traditional recliner chair with it's single layer of padding and virtually no cushioning around the arm rests. I have to mention I have never sat in a Dutailier so I may be wrong. As for La-Z-Boy, there is no doubt that they have the most comfortable chairs on the planet but they really remind me of a chair you would see at your grandfather's house. I read in reviews that others found the Rockabye really comfortable and it was the most attractive recliner option so I added it to our baby shower registry and received it a few weeks ago. We got a voicemail directing us to arrange a delivery with a specialized delivery company and did this. It arrived in a giant box in 2 pieces and took about 4 minutes to assemble. After trying it out, a few issues came up. It was comfortable, yes, but certainly not the most comfortable chair I've ever sat in and
definitely not nearly as comfortable as a La-Z-Boy. If a La-Z-Boy is a 10/10 in comfort, the Rockabye is a 6 or 7/10. Also, I checked back online and realized it is a Prop 65 item which means it probably contains cancer and birth defect causing chemicals. I realize that these same warnings are outside of buildings we walk into everyday and it's probably not THAT big of a deal but it certainly didn't make me feel comfortable. The chair doesn't have great lumbar support either. Also, after you recline the chair then sit back up, the thin fabric underneath the footrest would always get caught along the sides of the footrest and stick out. You have to push the fabric in by hand to hide it each time. That was a little annoying too. The gliding mechanism, recline and swivel (ability to turn from side to side) worked well. and the fabric color (microtan) and texture was nice and soft, exactly as shown in the photo. Ultimately we went to a La-Z-Boy store and were blown away by how
comfortable it was and decided to forgo style for comfort (lazboy was 2x the price at $850). We're probably going to buy a gliding ottoman with similar fabric to go with the la-z-boy so we can glide with our legs up (you can do this with the rockabye too, search Rockabye ottoman glider). We returned the rockabye 3 weeks after receiving it and I have to say the process was incredibly easy (just took one brief call to Amazon and they sent the same delivery company to our house to pick it up free of charge). This is why I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 3. Ultimately, if you don't want to spend a lot this chair is certainly adequate but know that it's not perfect.
