Now that San Luis Obispo's Kidical Mass is part of the San Luis Obispo
County Bicycle Coalition (SLOCBC), we are teaming up to host a screen
printing party. We are asking people to bring their own new or old
shirts, aprons, tote bags etc. to the Bike Coalition and we will silk
screen them with the Kidical Mass logo or an I [bike] SLO image.
We are also hosting the silk screen event at the local children's
museum and bringing the project to an afterschool program.
We were able to have a local screen printing shop make 2 single color
screens for $35 each. We are buying the ink and hanging them to dry on
a clothesline in a prominent downtown location.
The event will take place next Tuesday, April 6th, in time for our
Kidical Mass season May-September. We are taking special care that we
do not pollute with silk screen chemicals.
I will keep you posted and hopefully have some great pics.
In other news, we are updating our website, giving away safety flags
from Bell at the rides and connecting with local businesses to support
the kids with treats. Once again, we are giving away stickers (the
size of address labels, cheap) that say "I'm the KID in Kidical
Mass." I see the stickers on so many bikes and helmets. They also
serve as the proof of participation for the treat sponsors.
