A question that is often asked is, what type of rabbit I should use.
After doing the research i would suggest the Mini Rex good size and
look like a rabbit (pointy ears). However take note all performs who
use a Rabbit should have a performers licences, not to do so means you
could get a £5000 fine,

As an add on, rabbits are happier if they can live in pairs, I am
lucky as the two I have are almost 100% identical, this is something
that I am going to get a lot of use out of.

Tracey, I am a little concerned as my shows have rabbits in them, but
I have never come across a performers licence so what exactly is it
and how do you go about getting one?

The performers licences is got from you local dog warden it will cost
about £150 a year and entails the vet coming to see you each year to
check the heath of your rabbit. I dont know a magician that uses a
rabbit that has one but its a £5000 so i dont take the risk.

On another note we got 2 rabbits (brothers) but never got them muted,
which was a big mistake, one decided he was going to beat the other
up, so i separated them and then if they saw each other they would
fight to the death so had to give one away, however i decided the
performers licences wasn’t worth it so as i don’t wont a fine don’t
use it.

Hi Martin

you will find that most council dont know about the liences, so it
will take them some time to get back to you, from experance but as i
just wrote its the dog warden we had to contact at our local council
offices, the problem is very few people know about the law but i for
one dont wont a £5000 and heaven forbide something happen and parents
wont to sue its a loop hole for the insurance companys
