I'm organising an evening's mini-moto racing for one of the bike clubs
that I belong to and we have some spaces.

This is not an event organised by Kickstart, so no liability is
inferred. All are welcome (over 15 years old). A couple of Kickstart's
former students (Ty and Martin) will be coming along. They both race
mini-moto, so will be around to offer advice and show you all how it's
done!!

Please get in touch via email (click on "reply to author" or "view
profile") or drop into the office (Mon, Thu or Fri after 4pm). I would
like a deposit in advance of £20 (or the whole amount of £40).

I have now confirmed a booking with M4 Karting for Thursday 11th Dec
at 7pm (arrive from 6:30pm please). Cost is £40 per head.

M4 Karting at Hullavington, just of J17 of the M4 - so about half an
hour from Bristol. It is an indoor track, with cafe and toilet
facilities.

We have opted for the Grand Prix Event - organised race event, relies
on getting at least 20 riders. Traditional format of each rider having
5min practice session, followed by 4 heats of 4 laps, a 6 lap semi
final and all top riders go through to an 8 lap final.

I am happy to open it up to friends / family etc. (I've had some
interest at work). There is a minimum age requirement of 15.

For anyone that hasn't tried mini-moto before, it's a great laugh. You
don't need to provide any equipment or clothing, they provide helmets,
gloves, knee protectors and boiler-suit-style race suits. You're
welcome to wear your leathers, but you will fall off and they will get
scuffed! Any "offs" are at relatively low speed and you just slide
across the polished concrete track. I came away last time with a few
grazes, but then I was just wearing a hoody! Next time I'll wear an
old leather jacket, jeans and trainers (can't get your feet on the
pegs in bike boots!!). I'd rather use their helmets too.

[Insert your own disclaimer here - if you fall off, don't come crying
to me or BAM, or IAM, or M4 Karting]

I've got a couple of friends that race mini-moto at competitive events
and they have offered to come along with their bikes (race prepped and
tuned) to offer guidance (and to show us all how it's done!).

Has got the makings of a great evening's entertainment. Hopefully we
can get the numbers. Form an orderly queue....
