{The scene opens with fluorescent lighting flickering on the face of a
figure, hunched over a computer. Our hero, the lowly blues promoter,
faces a crucial dilemma. He begins a heated debate with nobody.}

{Nobody responds.}

Hero: I’ll do it. I can’t NOT do it.
Nobody: …
Hero: How hard is it? I just slip it in, like so- (Wing).
Nobody: …
Hero: I mean, everybody’s going to be thinking it anyway, right? It
just rolls off the tongue.
Nobody: …
Hero: Atherton Wing. Surely that’s a widely recognized name, a vibrant
part of our cultural lexicon? Everyone reading the announcement will
immediately chuckle at the clever reference.
Nobody: …
Hero: Okay, sure, he doesn’t have anything to do with blues per se,
but he is associated with a mighty fine shindig. That should count for
something.
Nobody: …
Hero: Surely this one little joke couldn’t peg me as a pathetic nerd
hopelessly clinging to a dying dream? I haven’t made a single Firefly
joke yet! (I could have sworn there was a browncoat reference in one
of these e-mails, but after a thorough archive sweep I didn’t find a
gorram thing.)
Nobody: …
Hero: Oooh! I should have been referring to myself as BDH this whole
time!

{And so he sat. What was decided? Only our hero knows. For now, we
turn our attention to this Friday night, where Colin “Reverend
ShadyGlenn” Wise and Patrick “st. patrick” Warren will bring be
playing the best blues music in the ‘verse.}
