Flame Painter is a unique paint program, it belongs to my 'I am an Artist' experimental project. I think with tools which inspires you, everyone can be an artist. You can try it here, change different brush settings and paint your own flame paintings. When you change the background from black to white, the palette changes from additive to subtractive and the feeling of the painting is very different. It's not easy to explain all brush parameters, so I leave this for your experimentation.
Check out new Rebelle - the real watercolor and acrylic paint program, Amberlight - abstract art tool based on particles, or Fluidance motion effect program.
You can try more experiments here.

I am a writer and photographer based in New York City. In October 2016, as a participant in The Giving Lens Morocco, I had the pleasure of traveling with Open Doors Morocco in the Marrakech area as well as on a trek to the Sahara. I was very impressed by the knowledge, friendliness, and professionalism of the Open Doors Morocco team and the care and thought put into our itinerary, and I am honored to be a guest blogger. This was my second trip to Morocco, after visiting the north (Tangier and Fes) in late 2014. A key reason for my explorations of Morocco is as an experiential journey into the lands of my forefathers, as DNA testing has revealed that I share a direct paternal ancestor, going back a few thousand years, with the majority of the people known to the world as Berbers and Tuaregs, now spread out through much of northwest Africa.
It is with great pleasure to share with you all, that after long months of development we present Flame Painter 4 - the new game-changing software which allows you to paint and design with real organic brushes. The new version puts an incredibly broad range of creative tools at your fingertips while making adding special effects to your designs a breeze. Flame Painter 4 will feature new Particle Systems, the state-of-the-art technology which allows creating an unlimited spectrum of particle brushes, ranging from classic light effects to structured patterns, textured shapes or even natural painting brushes. Particle systems will open a whole new world of possibilities nowhere to be found in other software. The upcoming version will also bring fresh sets of brushes which will give you the power to customize every parameter via the new Brush Creator panel. Each and every one of the brush presets in Flame Painter is a piece of art and you are the creator invited to play your own game with custom artistic brushes.
Particle systems are the foundation of Flame Painter and define the main characteristic and behavior of the individual brushes. Each system consists of an effective set of settings and sliders to help enhance your stroke to perfection. Choose from various particle systems to paint an original piece of artwork, or generate abstract imagery within a design project. A great variety of particle systems is a unique solution nowhere to be found in other software on the market. With this incredibly broad range of organic tools, you are the creator.
Never mind the basic colors. You can use included gradients, create your own color transitions from the scratch, or generate one from an image. You can even import a colored texture and use it as a particle brush. In the end, you can share your brush with other users and make the world a more creative place. Brushes will be added with a tag so anyone in need for a perfect graphic brush will search within the respective brush library.
If you love to experiment and have extra fun with brushes, with included Brush Creator you can create an unlimited number of brush styles by adjusting various options and parameters. For example, add a little noisiness. Modify jitter, add softness, chaos or other known and unknown parameters from the previous Flame Painter versions. Set any of the parameters to adjust to pressure sensitivity of your pen. This all is a great way to create amazing effects and add instant sparkle, depth, and richness to your paintings, designs or photographs.
Moreover, every stroke type can have its own texture which defines the opacity of the shape. Instead of spending hours searching for the perfect brush online, save your precious time and easily create your brush design with Flame Painter. The range of possibilities, how the brush can look and behave is really limitless.

Start with what you have and then experiment. I have both a meco with Paige tips an Little Torch with standard LT tips. I have also made a tip for my Meco using an old one hole tip and piece of #18 needle for an insert. Experiment to see what kind of results you get on copper using different torches, angles, metal prep etc. There are a lot of variables. If you get something that you like, clean, dry and preserve. I use Everbrite Protectaclear. There is a current discussion going on Ganoksin just about Protectaclear.
Started to become popular in the early and mid '50's. Design styles have changed over the years and started a comeback when the "True Fire" style flames starting around 2000. There is just something about a '40's and on Ford with a deep black paint job with the hood and front fenders on fire that just says Hot Rod.
Thought I read somewhere that it was inspired by a car that had no hood sides running at a lake bed and had an engine failure. There were flames coming off the engine and down the sides of the body, which fave somebody the idea.
Now, he and his wife, Racheal, who has also been flame painting for 16 years, enjoy teaching the process to others at the Ozark Folk Center in Mountain View, Arkansas. The center serves as their home base and the location of their primary studio, where visitors can watch them create their works of copper art.
The email I received last May, with information about Flame Painter 4, a new version of the app which was about to be released, made me curious. I am not the typical user of paint and particle effects apps, as my photography is essentially documenting the real world, and the few editorial post-production liberties I will take are usually related to a specific need, like placing a Moon on an empty sky, to illustrate content, or cloning out garbage left by previous visitors on a landscape I want to capture.
