Dear Colleagues,

Thank you so much for attending our session today! The presentation with some improvements can be accessed here (file too large with videos etc)

  1. Important: Re the "OJS mistake": My apologies - it was not an OJS mistake, but an "Ina mistake" 🙂 I have corrected it and the stats work fine. Rather use  Data  >>  Text to Columns in Excel when downloading the OJS reports. I have added a video clip to Slide 22 to demo.
  2. I have also embedded the video clip on how to convert a COUNTER report. See Slide 32.
  3. Kindly also see the last section on "Data Hygiene".

Nadia mentioned using Dimensions. Yes, you can use Dimensions to track citations and published outputs for Khulisa journals - but only if the journals’ DOIs are properly deposited. For usage stats like PDF downloads, you’ll need OJS COUNTER reports.
For full stats: Use OJS COUNTER reports (for usage) + Crossref/Dimensions/OpenAlex (for citations) + Crossref (metadata quality).
As with others, Dimensions data depends on DOIs deposited with Crossref. It can do the following:
  • If a Khulisa journal is indexed in Dimensions, you can pull metadata on articles (DOIs, titles, authors, years, citations, etc.)
  • Dimensions provides cited-by counts and citation trends for indexed items.
  • Dimensions integrates some “attention” metrics (social media, news, policy docs) for items with DOIs.
  • You can filter by ISSN or publisher to get article counts and overall citation numbers for a journal.

I will definitely explore Dimensions data a bit.

Thanks again and have a great day!

Kind regards,

Dear Khulisa Journal Editors and Managers,

Please join me for this session, during which we will focus on journal statistics.
Our journals on the Khulisa Journals platform are indexed on various platforms. In addition, we have OJS statistics, Altmetric data, and Google Analytics. I’d like to host a workshop during which we will explore to use these metrics effectively.
By the end of the workshop, editors and journal managers will be able to locate, export, interpret, and combine metrics from OJS, Altmetric, Google Analytics, and indexing services to produce a one-page monthly “Journal Health” dashboard. This to inform the editorial board, towards data-driven/informed decisions.
Looking forward having all attending!

Kind regards,
Ina
