April 1, 2022 Rohith Vemula, a Dalit, PhD research scholar and activist, was unable to bear the persecution from a partisan University administration and dominant caste Hindu supremacists. His suicide in one of the most prestigious universities in India has been called an institutional murder by scholars, MPs, activists and thousands of Dalit students and citizens across India. Deepa Dhanraj’s film ‘We Have Not Come Here to Die’ documents the historic nationwide anti-caste movement that followed Rohith’s death.
