Not long to go now.. So my usual email on nutrition. Again this is what works for me based on my limited experience, do your own research too and figure out if this also works for you.
1. Energy bars. For a days ride take at least 4 bars with you and eat one or a half ever 45-60mins. Don't wait until you get hungry! I like cliff bars, white chocolate flavour or Mule bars hunza nut. Both are based on real organic food rather than lab based produce.
2. Gels. Have a couple with you for quicker energy but I don't always use them. Torq gels with yogurt are nice.
3. Hydration. It will be hot and you need to drink loads but not just water. I use nunn tablets, good brand and great flavours. One bottle with two dissolved tablets and one bottle with plain water. Take some spare tablets on the ride too as you'll need to replenish.
4. It may also be worth considering a recovery bar or shake after the ride. Goodness shakes or Mule protein bar.
I can't stress how important the above is. We are all adults and now experienced cyclists so it's your own responsibility. We have seen that on a long ride if you screw up the above it can cause real issues.
Finally, make sure you can and are equipped to repair/replace a punctured tyre. Someone will get a puncture. This is likely to be Tahir who has plenty of practice but it could also be you. Also keep a charged phone and contact details with you or make sure you ride with someone that does.
As long as all that's in place it should be a cracking few days!
