Hi,

Following our well attended first meeting of 'Swan corner Community Group' in January, I hope you will be able to come to our second meeting at The Billesley, Tuesday 25th February, 7:30 to 9:30.  Please let anyone you know interested about our meeting.

Priorities raised at last meeting were parking and traffic, and the need for effective communication, consultation and support for everyone interested or making improvements to our area.  We have begun work in these areas since the last meeting:
  • Willow 'Fedge' to prevent cars driving over grass
Already there has been a noticeable reduction in number of cars parking and driving over the grass in front of Billesley - we plan to extend the Fedge over coming months
  • Notice board created (soon to be located on mound near The Billesley)
Graham Jones has hewn a beautiful solid oak noticeboard to display our updates, and any local notices we want.
  • Draft Constitution prepared for approval on 25th
In order to make clear our role, to legitimise our voice and to raise funds for improvements it is essential we have some form of official aims and structure.  Please add your comments before meeting to the document or by email - see link at bottom of page, and enclosed document.
  • Created an email list and regular blog updates promoting and documenting debate and keeping everyone informed
  • Contact made with all official bodies and organisations who we may work with
I have had conversations with Parks and Highways Departments, BCC, as well as Councillors from all three wards our area borders on.  Also we have support from BOSF, KH Res Forum, Sustrans, M & KH Playing Out Forum, Northfield woodlands, KHCSE, Parks for Play & Uni of Bham.

The seasons control when we can plant, so I have added to agenda discussion on planting, as we have trees (thanks Northfield Woodlands) which need planting soon.

Thanks everyone for your continuing support

Marcus
